I had another 70's DC horror story all lined up for you today, but Brian Barnes "isn't a fan of 70's DC horror" so I'll save it for later and post it here on his birthday instead. In the meantime, let's camp it up a few notches with some funny, rampaging mummy action straight from Riverdale that you jaded horror heads might actually find surprisingly entertaining (yep, still in mummies mode around here) --from the December 1976 issue of Little Archie #113, --the special "All Halloween Issue" to be exact. And if you enjoy today's post, check my other blog later this week as I'll post another story from this issue over there too, along with a few other halloween left-overs. (FYI: 284 days until Halloween!)

I like Li'l Archie as a Li'l GhouLunatic in the opening.
This was...interesting?
Even if it's a horror story tradition, immolation is a little strong for an Archie comic horror story. That's almost enough for it to belong in that "Chilling Adventures In Sorcery" title of theirs instead of this one.
While I'm a huge Archie comic addict, I have to admit that I've never liked the Little Archie segments. But if all the Little Archie stories had been Halloween-themed like this, I would have felt differently! This was a great story and I'm really loving the artwork. The cover is fantastic. They should still be producing comics like this today! I hope you'll continue posting fun ones like this, Mr. Karswell!
Don't worry, WLJ, they're probably planning a dark, gritty 'Little Archie' series. ;)
Hey now, I love 70s DC art, it's just the *stories* I'm not a fan of :) But I appreciate you thinking of me on my birthday :)
I like this one. I don't get why he's called "Little Archie" by Veronica, that's kind of weird, but it's certainly a well paced kids comic. The mummy is pretty creepy and the artist had a good variety of styles going on.
It's another story where the hero (Lil' Archie himself) stumbles upon victory by chance.
Awesome bobble-head cartooning and a thrilling mummy design! I also thought the colors were really good in this. I know that Archie Comics were usually slick, well-polished work, but being an intermittent user means that I am almost always more impressed than I expect to be.
Looking forward to the next story at AEET. I hope it's the haunted house one.
Thanks for the comments, and yes of course the next story (at AEET) is absolutely the haunted house one-- it's posted NOW, just head on over :)

More coming up here later this afternoon as well, STAY TOMBED...
I'm in the same situation as wendylovesjesus, since even though this series is an exception for me as well, I'm always looking for "Bronze Age" Archie comics (and Millie and Chili and other light comedy ones), and "Marvel Universe" and "D.C. Universe" comics are ALMOST a small thing by comparison. Which puts me on the outside even among comics collectors.
