The THOIA Archive reveals one tale left to post from the July 1953 issue of Journey into Fear #14, which completes yet another goddamned FULL ISSUE presentation here --check the archive for "Jury of the Undead", "The Green Witch", and "Return of the Corpse." And FYI: Today's post is dedicated to the gorilla my dreams!

It's more than a little like KONGA. (You just have to replace Lester with a superior-acting Michael Gough character.)
Mad scientists never learn their lesson-always install some kind of off switch in the creation in case it becomes uncontrollable.
JMR777 -- we can learn from this story and apply it to our modern world and the dangers of Artificial Intelligence. Indeed, an "off switch" is something that needs to be built into all AI products in the future and all gorillas with human brains. From THE TERMINATOR to DEADLY REVENGE, the lesson is driven home again and again. Is anybody listening?
I love how the story ends BEFORE Lester and Bongo fall to their death while the narrator mentions everything that will happen afterwards.
Yeah that last panel's really awesome. I kind of want to read the sequel about the graveyard shift morgue attendant and the inevitable autopsy and the... hey, wait a minute. That Gorilla was dead already. So was its new brain. You can't kill something that already dead, can you? Asking for a friend.
Happy October everybody.
This is great silly fun. I'm not sure about the addition of the sister, it didn't really change the story and she could have been removed (substituting the original woman for the ape victim) without any change.
I love how ludicrously bad our deranged scientist was. First off, he held that grudge for, how long? Second, just every idea he had was certain to cause disaster! Yet, he gleeful goes about it. And what the hell was his plan to not be seen with the ape? Was he going to drive off? Why didn't he? Wouldn't somebody see the ape entering his car with a screaming woman? I really liked how the doctor in the asylum mentioned that he was a nut. Obviously! I really enjoy mad science that just *does* instead of *plans.*
As others have said, the ending panel was great!
