Taking a quick breather from the comics for a bit with a handful of horror highlight photos I snapped at the 19th annual Halloween and Haunted Attractions Show here in STL last weekend (see more highlights from the 17th annual HAASHOW HERE!) The fine, frightening folks in the scare industry really know how to top themselves each and every year, making this show one of the most awesomely creepy convention experiences ever! Masks, costumes, props, concessions, you name it-- if it's part of your haunt then this show has got it! I also bought a cool Frankenskull mask from my pals at Trick or Treat Studios, --I even met actress PJ Soles and she signed my Carrie and Halloween dvds! Enjoy the pix, and find out more about HAASHOW by clicking HERE!
Guess who?

Every time I see incredible props like these, I think "next year, that's when I go all out for Halloween" and then I end up with the plastic skeletons, witches, gravestones, fence, and Christmas lights!
Anything is better than nothing!
The third picture gives a whole new meaning to the term 'blood sausage.'
For most of these pictures, it looks like the end result of what would happen if Lovecraft's nightmares came to life and escaped from his head (or caused his head to explode, maybe the poor guy in picture 16 was the result of an exploded skull.)
This is a bit off topic but please bear with me-
I had a copy of the book "Bloody Mary and Other Tales for a Dark Night" which I now can't find (maybe Bloody Mary borrowed it from me without asking.)
One of the tales dealt with a couple who didn't follow the local custom of setting out a scarecrow instead of a Jack o lantern on Halloween. The spirit of the protective scarecrow didn't take too kindly to this act of disrespect so he came after the couple, and dealt with them accordingly...
The images of the scarecrow heads reminded me of that story, they look as creepy as the tale tried to suggest. Either that, or they could be used in a remake of 'Dark Night of the Scarecrow'.
Great nightmare fuel find, Karswell.
It's so weird you mentioned Bloody Mary, I came home from work tonight and out of the blue my son was asking me about the Bloody Mary legend-- ??!!
There is an idea for a story/comic-
A shady bar serves Bloody Marys, and after the customers drink it, the real Bloody Mary kills them when they look in the mirror.
But do they have to order the drink 3 times?
Man, these are cool as hell. Thanks for taking all these pictures. I can't really even pick out favorites since they are all so great, but that happy J-horror cosplay girl and the bulb-eyed spider-thing rank right up there. Excellent way to kick-off the countdown to Halfoween at the end of April.
I still have a zillion other pix from the show too, maybe I'll do a round two gallery on Facebook
