Atlas Tales calls this one a "stark electric chair story" and they're totally right. With a taut script from Carl Wessler and even tauter art from Gil Kane, this one's a real shocker!
The good news is that the metal from the chair was later used to manufacture cars. The new vehicles that were made from the recycled(plot) were re-coated with Serling-steel.
Great art, but beautifully written. I love how in the "real" execution everybody is so much nicer to Gordon than he imagines in his dreams. Nice touch.
Nice! I went to a comic show here in Massachusetts today and wore my HOIA shirt. It brought me good luck! I got 2 Atlas horror books (pre-code, natch) for $25!
truely a spooky one today. really felt for the poor guy.
i googled the novelty ad at the bottom there. the Johnson Smith Co is still in business and has been since 1914. i wanted to see what the King Tut Floats in Air for 60 cents was all about. i guess they don't make them any more. shuck.
Har! HP is performing here all week folks, don't forget to tip yer waitress too.
>THE ENDING GAVE ME A REAL JOLT! HEEEE!!!
Another wise guy!
>everybody is so much nicer to Gordon than he imagines in his dreams.
The exact OPPOSITE of how people are to me in my dreams. Wah!
>wore my HOIA shirt. It brought me good luck!
Wow, no kiddin'? That's great. So what Atlas issues did you get?
>Johnson Smith Co is still in business
Good to know in case I need a midget camera or midget wrist radio... or a midget! Wonder if I can still get a live chameleon? Probably not. Oh, 4th of July is coming up, maybe we can score some $1 explodong torpedo bombs!
Thanks for the comments this weekend, I hope everyone had a nice break... but don't hold yer breath too soon, another double ATLAS post is coming up NEXT!
