Don't Bury Me Deep! / Where?

Did anyone really think I'd present an "All Atlas Month" of posts and not feature Bill Everett? There was an anonymous request for "More Maneely!" earlier this month too, and you know I'm here to please! Both tales today come from the April '52 issue of Advs into Weird Worlds #5... fun, spooky stuff, and a great way to close out our Atlas fest as well as June '09. And don't forget about THOIA's first ever poll... want more Atlas in July? Or less? Then vote NOW!

'Soon we shall find a body for you my beauty!" Only Alan Moore writes better comics-dialogue than this!!!! I knew from the beginning how it was going to go, but it certainly was fun getting there.

I love how the entire town hates Macomber so much they actually go so far as to say 'curses' regarding him in casual conversation and to gather around for his death.

Not gonna lie, the second story's outstanding quality was the art, mainly. But it did have a more interesting than usual take on the 'Protagonist is really the villain' twist-ending since he had amnesia, it's also weird to see a vampire who strikes annually. And no one creates period atmosphere like Maneeley.

A great duo of artists to wrap up Atlas month. Well, it does look as though we're gonna have more Atlas in July. So be it. If that means more Everett and Maneely, fantastic, but if you could please see what you can do about limiting the number of stories in the 2nd person narrative (a tall order, given Stan's obvious fondness for it), I'd be grateful. They wear thin pretty quickly.

Like your current banner, Karswell. :-) And I'll check the most recent additions to the blog. I've been away from E-Blogger for a while, including my own.

I love how Beecher sold a casket to the family that owns a freaking casket factory.

Thanks for the comments people, I really do appreciate them, but at the same time have to admit that it's a sad day indeed around THOIA when a post featuring both Bill Everett and Joe Maneely only generates half a dozen comments. I'll keep trying harder...

Also, as you can see the Atlas voting for July has ended with 80 votes total: 47 people said they want more Altas, 27 told Atlas to piss off, and 6 of you just didn't give a hoot. So in July what we'll do to keep everyone around here happy is stick with Atlas on all new posts, but I'll also throw in some other random publishers occasionally too. Sound good?

THOIA has got lots of good stuff lined up for July: shrunken heads, zombies, Satanism, ghosts and witches, and with artists like Cameron, Infantino, and Wolverton on the burner, you know now not to miss a single moment! Stay tuned, and thanks again to all that voted.
