The Waiting Grave

Ahhh, the waiting grave. Reminds me of an analogy, something about “we’ve all got one”, and “they all stink.” The grave I mean, not today’s post.

From the April 1952 issue of Witches Tales #9

I LOVE ABRUPT ENDINGS LIKE THIS, LIKE YESTERDAYS BRIDE OF THE CRAB POST, IT REALLY NAILS IT HOME WITHOUT DRAGGING IT ON AND ON. PERFECT.

Good simple story of unavoidable doom. Contains really nice coloring and interesting angles too.

Harvey excelled in stories geared to smash you brutally over the head with horrific violence, but they also had more subtle tales like this that played out in the harmless manner of a really spooky Twilight Zone or Thriller episode.

As abrupt as it is, the ending was fitting. Loved it.

Been missing your blogs quite a bit, Karswell. Good to be back, even if only for reading week. :)
