Well the title says it all, and while it might not actually be THE definitive “werewolf tale to end all werewolf tales”, it is a fun story with some howling good artwork. Did I actually say that out loud? I’m not sure if I’ve posted a Paul Hodge story yet, and if not then this is a good place to start.

Very good story today and excellent artwork, Paul Hodge I'm not familiar with but off the bat I'd say he is vastly underrated. Compare the artistic dynamics of this post to yesterdays weakly illustrated post by the hugely overrated AC Hollingsworth. Now tell me who's issues should be demanding more money in price guides?
Ha ha, so was that a shot at A.C. Hollingsworth or Overstreet?
Or at me for posting it?
THESE OLD ATLAS STORIES SEEM SUPERIOR TO MOST OF THE STUFF YOU POST HERE....BUT ITS ALL GOOD. I REALLY LIKED THE STORIES FROM ACE WEEK AND I'M GROWING MORE AND MORE FOND OF THE ACG AND HARVEY STUFF TOO!
how about more werewolf stories, these are my favorites
Ask and you shall receive... I'll see what I've got up my hairy sleeves for next week, tomorrow you're getting some more vampire action, and this weekend is the return of more Palais nastiness.
Those are some great wolf drawings!story was good too,not to sound racist, but y'know when a foreign girl attracted to howling appears in a werewolf story, she's usually the culprit!(like in CAT PEOPLE)and Henri was obviously a red herring, but having the HERO turn out to be a werewolf was a REAL twist, and proof Atlas was right behind EC.in quality.
>and proof Atlas was right behind EC.in quality.
NO doubt about that!

I guess that just goes to show how subjective such things are. I've found Atlas to be one of the most mediocre of the pre-code publishers - and probably a little worse than that. All too often it seems they came up with a twist ending first and then rushed out a poorly-written plot to support it. And the "Oh my god, you mean HE was the werewolf/vampire." ending is one of the most hackneyed I've seen. Every time I read a vampire or werewolf story I cringe when I see that ending coming.
Not that I don't like reading them, however. Even the worst of the pre-code horror is enjoyable to me (OK - except maybe for Fiction House - definitely not my cup of tea).
I understand your cringe, but when I talk about Atlas "quality" I'm personally referring to the excellent artists they had.
They couldn't smell one another?
Oh, well. Happy ending at least.

LOSER!!!!!!!
Henri's jagged, worn down teeth were the best part of this story.
