Countdown to Halloween: Post #3! GCD currently has no entry for this issue so my link below merely takes you to the main Black Magic cover gallery instead. To makes things even more frustrating my own copy of this issue is also missing it’s cover! So until everything gets updated let’s just hang on tight with a chilly night ride into Sleepy Hollow territory instead.
From the October 1952 issue of Black Magic Vol. 2 #11

Yikes! but if it wasn't Gramps.. then ........ who!??
Gotta get me somma that acne soap too...
Yeah, I was going to remove that acne ad from the page but thought "ahhh what the hell" it's practically just as entertaining as the story.
ACNE SCARS OF THE DEVIL'S HORSE
love headless horseman stories! there has to be a bunch out there old or new
THIS STORY TO ME SEEMS VAGUELY FAMILIAR, LIKE THEY POSSIBLY MADE IT INTO A FILM OR TV SHOW EPISODE OR SOMETHING. THE REASON I SAY THIS IS BECAUSE SOMEHOW I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE OLD GUY WAS GONNA SAY IN THE FINAL PANEL EVEN THOUGH I KNOW I'VE NEVER READ THIS STORY BEFORE!
I dig that spelling "HOLOWEEN" too!
Great!real "Holloween" atmosphere and great art,the old guy kind of reminds me of Jack Lemmon, fitting tribute to the 1st great american ghost story!.
i love the old comics ads.
Grandpa Fred looks about eighty in the present day of the story, so forty years before he'd have been about forty. Old enough to not play stupid jokes on "Hollow"ween. That sounds like a Crypt Keeper level pun, by the way.
