Here we go, Countdown to Halloween: Post #1! What I’m going to try and do with the comic book posts for the next 7 days is present to you stories set on or around Halloween, or stories that at least contain Halloween themes. Strangly enough, in preparing for this week of posts I discovered that while there are of course thousands of 50’s horror comics in the world, there are actually very few stories that take place within a Halloween setting?! Go figure…

Cool story, really love the artwork. Women with the Johnny Craig style face get me everytime. I was hoping to find some stories for you but when I did the keyword search for Halloween on GCD I see what you mean, not much there from the pre code era.
I initially did the same GCD keyword search and was shocked how little there was in terms of pre code Halloween tales. I guess if you went that far too then you probably know what stories you're going to see posted here for the next 7 days, ha ha... I'll try to add a few surprises though.
Next year will be especially thin on Halloween scans unless someone out there knows of some differently titled buried gems.
Weird Mysteries #10 had a story called Trick or Treat but I haven't seen it so I can't say for sure it's a halloween story.

It's on the schedule, you'll see it next week!
Well, the art and story took a while to get moving, but it's really hard to fault a story with witches, love potions, horny abusive ape-men,black cats(or temporary changes into)walking dead and dances with skeletons and Sammy Hagar's mom.i wants me some of dat cough syrup!.

That's where I feel ACE excels in their stories over most other pre code publishers, they were never in a big hurry to tell a tale in 3 or 4 short pages, they liked to build them slowly and develope the characters in a more classic story telling sense.
Any story where the wicked WITCH is the one you're "rooting" for, is a winner in my book.

Ha ha, GO TEAM EVIL!
