It’s time for another corpse story before the ghouls rush in and pick us clean. Finally digging into a moldy old Atlas tomb, this tale from the 1953 issue of Adventures Into Terror #25 features some stunningly atmospheric artwork from comic book legend Gene “Tomb of Dracula” Colan. Even in his early days the guy was completely amazing, his illustrious supernatural style most certainly suited for swirling, misty tales of haunted graveyard horror.

i like the subtle humor in this one because the ghosts aren't really scary until they kill the asshole
great colan artwork!!!!!
Plenty more Mean Gene Colan coming up in future posts! Stay tuned...
That last panel reminds one of Harry Clarke's spectacular illustration for Poe's 'The Facts in the Case of M. Valdamar'.
Very similar indeed! For anyone who wants to see what we're talking about go here:

Of course the draw in this (ha) is Colan's artwork, I was a fan of his ever since my young hands touched my first Tomb of Dracula as a monster kid. I wasn't the biggest fan of his superhero work outside of that, but I also grew to love that when I stopped being an idiot (still an ongoing process.)
This is a fun story where the ending can be seen from a mile away, but it still works great.
