Weird Creepy Awful Spooky Ghastly Comics

We've been chuggin' along pretty intensely here so far this month for THOIA's Valentine Massacre 2020, so let's idle it back a notch for just a bit, and take a sniff of something different. Yes, love is in the air-- can you smell it? And love is magical-- black magical! Carl Hubbard uncorks his own magic potion of illustrative talent, and delivers some wonderfully silly scenarios in this weird creepy awful spooky ghastly comic tale from the downright daffy Dec. '53 issue of Whack #2.

I loved this horror humor, fun and funny.

Thank you Karswell for making a Monday a fun day!

Delightful! It's nice to see a love story with a happy ending once in a while. But it's still a little weird to see Morticia marrying Lurch.

What an odd and funny little story!

The art is universally great, I love all the characters and the coloring is really sharp. It's not super bright colors (which you see in a lot of these) but really nicely shaded.

There's a good run of styles here, from cartoon-y to a bit more realistic and ... it's just a great job all around.

The story is funny, but there's basically no story line, just a number of setups for jokes -- nothing wrong with that in a comic! It jumps from one sort of related situation to another, and everybody gets a happy ending!

This one is a real winner in the comedy department.

The McCarthy For Senator placard in the witch's brew was the crowning touch.
