Well, the Heath story I originally wanted to post today didn't quite work out, (no amount of clean-up attempt in the world was gonna make that one presentable here-- sorry!) So instead, let's take a look at another sizzlin' Joe Maneely quickie from the October 1951 issue of Journey into Unknown Worlds #7. I kind of felt like Satan was getting a little ignored during our Atlas Festivities lately anyways...

Every panel of this thing is incredible.
I like there was some research (he has to exist for eternity with the back of his head shaved off!)
So I don't even know what's the best panel in this thing. The electrocution is excellent, dynamic, and the entire figure is slanted and puts a lot of kinetic motion to the concept of him shaking back and forth.
Then the very next panel, in the smoke, is also great. Sure, it's all black, but again shows great form and action. And then there's the fun last panel.
Can't see if Satan is wearing short-shorts, though!
Extra points to the colorist; the last page is awesome, with all the bright colors of the smoke and how it slowly changes into fire. I don't know if that was the intention, but it works.
Maneely, what a loss, he was so talented and super-hero Marvel would have been so much better (then it was) if he had been around.
Three pages to tell the tale and not a single panel wasted. There are bright colors just where they are needed, not a tutti-frutti color scheme we see in some horror comics.
A nice gem of a three pager, a great item to add to THOIA's archives.
I know that dark comedy stories this short aren't a rare thing in comics themselves, but it also has a kind of NIGHT GALLERY comedy blackout feeling to it.
But again, I guess a lot of them do.
I have been wondering where I had seen a story similar to this one, where a mysterious figure helps the con get away- and sure enough, there were two such tales hiding in the dungeons of THOIA. The first is a one pager titled "The Get-Away" posted on Nov 28, 2008, and "I Was Trapped in Horror House!" posted on Oct 6, 2022. They say give the devil his due, sometimes ol' Scratch helps himself when he feels like it.
