Most of you that have been following this blog for the last decade or so know fellow commenter, Brian Barnes, aka The King of Snark, and Youtube mastermind (is that the right word?) behind Your Final Answer and Mondopiece Theatre, where, for quite a few years now he's played horror host to some of the best bad cinema in Z-grade film history. Well, let us now add a writer credit to his resume with his strangely unique entry into holiday themed short horror comic kookery and bookery! He's not the actual host this time around (whew!) but he does take the old reading of the will trope and weave a frightfully fun tale of ultra gory, tannenbaum terror! Nice art by deadly Dan Fowler as well. And for more Barnes ballyhoo, be sure to CLICK HERE --if you dare!
And because one story is just not enough for xmas evil, head over to my other blog for a spooky children's picto-story created by me, errrr, Mr. Karswell, earlier this year!

Moral of the story is to not wait until the last minute to put up your Christmas decorations
Eat your hearts out, EC.
The horror hostess is Hot, though I would have a supply of antivenom on hand before approaching her. "I don't bite!" Yeah, right, once bitten twice shy.
I almost forgot, Three cheers for Brian and Dan! Great tale and great art.
Everyone celebrates in their own way...
I usually run 'A Pistol For Ringo'(1965), a Euro-western set during X-Mas eve.
I like the idea of Harryhausen's Medusa as horror host. Harryhosten.
It's always so amazing when people make things and share them. Thanks heaps, fellers! Such a super Christmas Eve present. I like the panel on page four where the unnamed but debonair final man grabs the log out of the fire with his bare hands.
Season's greetings, everybody!
I agree with JMR777.
Of course, I like snakes themselves.
Hopefully Brian will chime in here with a little more info for you all about how this all came about, and he can even tell you what's next for his youtube channel in 2020.
A huge thanks again to him for supplying this years xmas evil entertainment, PLUS, a happy horridays to everyone from dear 'ol Santa Kars!
Truth be told, I'm Jewish, but twisted Christmas tunes and stories are always right up my alley. (Hmm, since Horror themed Christmas movies are a thing, why not horror themed Hanukkah ones as well?)
Anyways, the portrait of the old Aunt over the fireplace and imprinted upon her tombstone looks an awful lot like Lady Tremaine, the wicked Stepmother from Disney's Cinderella.
For some reason, killer Christmas trees are always fun--love the decapitation by garland upon the one nephew although I'm surprised that the last one didn't realize he had a Christmas wreath around his head after fleeing from the house. Also, my favorite example of killer Christmas trees were always the ones from two Christmas specials of Doctor Who with David Tennant as the 10th Doctor. Nothing like a Christmas tree attacking to the cheery melody of "O' Christmas tree" while onlookers freak out.
Probably the most insane killer xmas tree film (short) ever is TREEVENGE --if you haven't seen it yet then by all means you are in a for an ultraviolent, hilarious treat:

Actually, my mistake, the killer Christmas trees in Doctor Who always attacked to the cheery tune of "Jingle Bells" and it was awesome!
Actually never heard of Treevenge--that was hilarious! Poor cat though!
Thank you everybody and I'm glad you enjoyed it. This was a bucket list item for me -- writing a horror comic -- ever since I was a kid and saw the pre-code reprints in the backs of my giant size Werewolf by Night. I thought now was finally the time to do it. Extra special thanks for Karswell and his blog for posting it.
There's no story behind it, I decided to do it and it was Christmas so it's a Christmas story. It was written in the Marvel method (I gave a short description of what action needed to happen on every page, there was only a couple specific things, like making sure to show the wreath in places so it's not un-announced.). Dan (the artist) came up with the layout, I OK'd it, he finished it (and did a fantastic job) and then I wrote and added in the dialogue. And Karswell published it!
One other interesting note -- I didn't have a level of gore in the script -- I told Dan to do what he wanted to draw. I think he made the right choice! :)
Extra extra thanks to Karswell for always pushing my bizarre niche YT channel. If you like snarky takes on old exploitation films or other such weirdness (starting a parody science show next year) check it out!
Warning: I might do another comic in the future :)
A merry Christmas to you and yours, good Mr. Karswell !!
Delightful tale! Best Christmas present ever!
Not having heard of this blog until a few months ago, I am unfortunately unacquainted with Mr Barnes, but I would suggest that his familiarity with English, specifically Cockney, slang is shaky at best. "Are you Blimey?" comes to mind. It would mean "Are you blaming (damning) me?" I assume he meant to say "Are you barmy?" What would Cockneys be doing with dollars anyway?
