The Girl Who Couldn't Die!

Stopping by an antique shop a few weeks ago to say hi to a friend working there led to the discovery of a mutilated copy of Marvel's Giant-Size Chillers #1 in a small stack of junk mags (I love when that happens!) containing this cool 'n spooky old Paul Reinman reprint, originally presented in the October 1951 issue of Adventures into Terror #6. (Please excuse the condition of this story in places, I tried to clean it up as much as possible.)

BONUS SHORT: Silk Gauze
(From the Feb-March '69 issue of Witching Hour #1)

A double dose of Swami goodness! These would be good to read right before settling down to a nice viewing of NIGHTMARE ALLEY--which is a wonderful creepy noir, even if it lacks the supernatural angel of this first tale.

Speaking of that tale--loved it! That splash page had me from the get-go: "If you read this, you'll find yourself trapped in an ancient mansion with the mad spirit of a lovely girl!" Really, just try to hold me back!

And after his pre-game makeout with Sandra together with his suggestive body positioning, I think there's no mystery as to how Larry manages that "Knock Knock Knock" under the table in panel 1 of pg. 2! ;)

I was a little upset with "Silk Gauze," however--way to take all the mystery out of life, guys!

Hope you enjoyed your VD, Karswell! (Not that kind...well, YKWIM... ;) )

Comment verification: "epickshe"--or rather, EPIC SHE! Apropros, no?

Karswell: Creepy with a capital "K". I loved that last page. It really gave me the shivers. "So many memories." Brrr. -- Mykal

Looks like Larry really did muff this one in the end! He should have just went for it; legitimization at last! The ending was quite creepy with the old mansion, a ghost, and an axe. A good way to start the week, I'd say. Thanks Karswell!

I AGREE THE LAST COUPLE PANELS ARE REALLY CHILLING! AND IT IS NICE TO SEE THE LADIES GET SOME REVENGE FOR A CHANGE TOO!

Yeppers, just like in real life the ladies are getting the upper hand at THOIA this week, and us d00ds don't stand a chance... I know I don't.

Get ready for an Adventure into Darkness next, and as always thanks for the comments.
