Karswell: Loved it. Although, I have to admit, I found myself rooting for the creature just like I always do in the movie. And, just like in the movie, the only character I really felt affection for was the captain of the Lucia.

I loved the part when the creature, caught in the net, nearly drags the whole boat under! Very powerful. Also, I loved when Gaustad got his! "Unable to help, Scott and Mitch swim for their lives." I bet they did. I didn't exactly see a heroic effort from our boys, though.

This was great. It's too bad this was the best of the Dell monster movie comics. I would have loved to see the others. -- Mykal

WOW AS MUCH AS I LOVE THE ORIGINAL MOVIE IT IS TOO BAD THIS ISNT THE SCRIPT THEY USED! NAZIS GETTING EATEN BY PIRANHAS IS A NICE ADDITION AND WHAT A GREAT ENDING!

I never said I wouldn't post the others--- maybe I will! It's just The Wolf Man issue that Mr C was asking about is kind of lame.

Thanks BP!

Cute too, eh? Awwww, baby creeches! As mentioned in the comments yesterday, if you haven't already be sure to check out Art Adam's great Creature from the Black Lagoon comic as well, (info link also in those comments.)

And for another spooky Dell Movie Classic check the THOIA Archive from January 2009, I totally forgot I posted Morella from #793 Roger Corman’s Tales of Terror, and Kitty posted The Black Cat.

NEXT UP: Another monster legend goes on a rampage!

A pistol whip, heads cracked together...but the part I like best is when The Creature bursts into the tent with arms upraised going "GRAOWRRR!"

That's Creature for: "I want S'Mores!"

That's it! My favorite panel! Those baby creetches are such cute little fuckers!!

...still trying to figure out what brand name and color/# red lipstick The Creature uses. Perhaps Maybelline Firehouse #13?

Yeah, the baby creetches are cute; but then so are all babies. Not.

Well this in no way disappointed, but I do think I liked the first half a little better. What surprised me about how well they were able to move the story along in expositive dialog (and the comfortable amount of time they took doing it), set me up to feel that today's pure pictographic action was a somewhat clunky (and hurried). Perhaps this should have been two issues? Maybe. As it is, the action sort of descends into a "this happened and then this happened" narrative pace that superhero stuff was getting a lot better at the time. Plus, a lot of intrigue happened in the first half that wasn't entirely paid off here. If that's all the Nazi melodrama was going to amount to, then I woulda preferred more panels about crank science and Creature.

Enough lame criticism, though. I loved this new reimagened story--especially the piranhas--and I really did enjoy today's finale. It's just that yesterday's half was even better. (And I would certainly love to see more.)

Man this was awesome, way better than the first half. I love all the wordless panels, beautiful and smart coloring, like mini art masterpieces. Thanks Kars!

All I can say is this: two 50-gallon drums of alcohol would sure keep me pickled all the way back up the Amazon.

Great story, Kars! Yes, I loved these old Dell retellings and would love to see more!

Good ol' Creech!
I, too, loved the 3 stooges head clunking scene on p28 panel 2!

Thank you very much for posting this. I've wanted to get my hands on this for years. I'm all for more Dell movie adaptations here. I'd love to see Mad Monster Party, Die! Monster Die! or the Raven. I'd also love to see The Incredible Mr. Limpit, but don't think there's any way you can justify doing that here.

I end up rooting for the creature too. Could you send it to kill Amy The Stepford Wife from the Nutra System commercial? Gawd, she gets on my last nerve!
