Don't Bury Me Deep! / Where?
Did anyone really think I'd present an "All Atlas Month" of posts and not feature Bill Everett? There was an anonymous request for "More Maneely!" earlier this month too, and you know I'm here to please! Both tales today come from the April '52 issue of Advs into Weird Worlds #5... fun, spooky stuff, and a great way to close out our Atlas fest as well as June '09. And don't forget about THOIA's first ever poll... want more Atlas in July? Or less? Then vote NOW!

Blood Brothers! / Stranger from Space
Super Request Sunday this month features two cool Atlas tales of horror! Our first story is from the Sept. '52 issue of Suspense #22 and is for Joey Deadcat who put in a request for more George Roussos earlier this month. And the second tale is for John Kaminiski, it’s a far-out Sci-Fi classic with some weird Matt Fox inked art by Gil Kane, (thanks Tamfos!) from the Oct. '53 issue of Mystic #24.
Got a request too? Drop me a line--- anytime! And don’t forget to cast your vote on the THOIA poll before the month is over! All Atlas again or not in July--- you decide!

The Dark Tunnel / From Out of the Night
Earlier this month we had a squirmy, wormy, Atlas double feature, and today the bugs are back with yet another deadly double shot of the shivers--- two stories from the always superb, Mr. Gene Colan! Our first story comes from the very first issue of Mystery Tales #1 (March 1952), and our second story from the February 1954 issue of Uncanny Tales #17. I hope one of you remembered the bug spray!

The Weaker Sex! / Sleep, My Love!
Dick Ayers and Jim Mooney battle it out today in the manly Atlas ring, which one wins? And which one has the bigger, more obvious issues with the opposite sex?! I'd love to hear from some female commentors on these two tales today...
Both from the December 1953 issue of Spellbound #18.

Terror Below! / Terror in Time
For those of you that raved about the Al Eadeh story in our last post, here’s a double dose of terrors for you that further showcase his brilliantly bizarre, brain damaged style. The first tale comes from the July 1954 issue of Mystic #32, and the second from the December 1953 issue of Spellbound #18. Enjoy!

House / The Horrible House!
A Haunted House Double Feature finishes out our weekend, the first tale sporting a terrific splash and great 3D title lettering, and comes from the December 1954 issue of Uncanny Tales #27 courtesy of Mort Lawrence. And fyi: tale #2 today is just the start of another look at the weird-ass illustrative genius of Al Eadeh... yep, I'll have a double shot of Al in our next THOIA post!
But first---

But first---

And hey, it's Father's Day today too don't forget... read a classic from the THOIA Archive, Bernie Wrightson's awesome adaptation of Stephen King's story from Creepshow! Click HERE!

The Two Who Were Alone! / Joe…
Here’s a couple different sort of nail biters for you from the Dec. ’51 issue of Adventures into Terror #7, the first story from Allen Bellman and the second from Hy Rosen. This is a good all-around issue, also featuring neat Joe Maneely and Harry Lazarus yarns, but most notably containing Basil Wolverton’s classic “Where Monsters Dwell” that we posted way back in October '07 from one of the numerous re-print versions… click HERE for it!

I Die Too Often
Atlas Tales calls this one a "stark electric chair story" and they're totally right. With a taut script from Carl Wessler and even tauter art from Gil Kane, this one's a real shocker!

Stay Away! / Roll Call
Two terrific spine-tinglers from THOIA fave Bernard Krigstein today... I'd really love to do a more indepth examination of his work but I'm running dangerously short on stories by him. If anyone has anything they'd care to submit for a future Krigstein Fest please drop me a line.

The House on the Hill
Here's a super creepy Vic Carrabotta classic from the May 1952 issue of Astonishing #13. This issue is one of my absolute favorite pre-code comics in my entire Golden Age collection, and features many great stories by some of the best that Atlas had to offer: Ogden Whitney, Cal Massey (who we featured in our last post), and the incredible Bernie Krigstein (who we plan to feature next!)
If you haven't already, click HERE to see the other 3 stories I've posted from this issue... but not until you've read-- The House on the Hill!

X / In the Cardboard Box
Two more Atlas thrillers for you today, the first from the great Cal Massey and the May 1952 issue of Spellbound #3. Then stick around as Joe Sinnot makes yet another blood freezing THOIA appearence (he's a definite fave around here for sure) with an atmospheric chiller from the March 1954 issue of Menace #10.

Our first wormy tale comes from the March 1954 issue of Menace #10, with art by Tony DiPreta… and stick around for the second story as Bill Walton returns to THOIA with yet another creepy Atlas classic!

Russ Heath's turn today, as we morbidly roll along, fresh in our first week of a month long look at pre-code Atlas horror comics! And if that splash doesn't kill you, the final panel on page 7 will...
