Vampire's Daughter! / The Impatient Ghost!

THOIA friend Robert Susor recently reminded me that there is still one story left for me to post called "The Impatient Ghost" by Dan Loprino from the June 1954 issue of Adventures into Weird Worlds #30, so here it is by request (fyi: check the archives for all of the other great yarns from this issue!) But first, let's open the coffin on a creepy blood sucker tale from the February 1953 issue of Strange Stories from Another World #5, --my oh my, isn't she lovely!

*Loved* the twist ending in both of these stories; (actually, until the end, I would have let the title character of the first story give me "the Transylvania/
Lugosi Hicky" anytime; (with only one last request, to have it done quickly and/or painlessly!)

Only one question: regarding the titles of this story and movies like "Dracula's Daughter" and "Son of Dracula"; *how does a vampire have children? I always thought that particular part of the body of the Undead of any species was "not just merely dead; but realy most sincerely dead"! (soory; most work/family safe way I could think to put it without making it too obscure*!)

(Sorry; don't usually comment twice about the same story; but I didn't think of this until last night!) I think I know why the woman in "The Vampire's Daughter reacted as she did to mirrors, silver, and only coming out at night: World's First/Only Self-Taught Method* Actress!

*Isn't that the term for an actor or actress who *really needs to get "into character to do a role? (I mean, things like going on a "ride along" to play a cop)? The other actors and/or crew are lucky she (apparently) didn't try to bite any of them!* :)

I'm almost certain I've cited this prose story once before on THOIA as an influence, but the last few words of "The Impatient Ghost" compels me to bring it up again. John Collier's "Are You Too Late, or Was I Too Early" is clearly the inspiration for this beautifully drawn Atlas 4 pager. See the link below:

Interesting thought DB, you may be onto something there!

Haha

I actually just finished Collier's "Fancies and Goodnights" collection less than a year ago, so you may be right... I'll have to re-read it again. I do wonder if JC was the first to pen this old ghost switcheroo though? I guess it also would'nt be the first time a precode horror story lifted some ideas from him.

Thanks for the comments!
