Deadly Doodles of Dandy

Hear that grinding noise? Is that the monolithic mills of the Gods slowly turning, or is it just Mr. Karswell uploading the final post of September 2024? Could be one, or both, and with a silly title like "Deadly Doodles of Dandy" you may just find that this Goldfarb and Baer terror team-up isn't quite as cornball as ya'd think! From the very short-lived, second and final issue of Fantastic #9, via Youthful in April of 1952.

Gravestone for Gratis

A wonderfully creepy, kookball classic from Farrell, and a tale that many of you might recognize from the half dozen or so Eerie Pub reprints and reworking / retitlings as "The Ghoul" in the 60's and 70's. Originally appearing in the Jan - Feb '55 issue of Fantastic Comics #11, and being the last story in the final issue of this very short-lived series, it in fact actually kind of helped end things on a howling high note instead of a sad sax whimper like most brink of code days horror.

The Eyes of Madam Jahn

Another tale of vengeance from beyond the grave, and also from the April 1952 issue of Fantastic #9 (see our previous post as well), and while it's a bit uneven in both story and art, it does contain a few incredibly eerie moments for sure, not to mention possible use of Myrna Loy photo reference at the bottom of page three. Queen of the Shrunken Heads

Here's a fast moving, grimy jungle gem of horror where the ugly American does some ugly stuff and thankfully gets what is coming to him in a wonderfully ugly manner. From the April 1952 issue of Fantastic #9, art by Harry Harrison and Ernie Bache.

Dinosaur in Grandfather's Barn
