We got a little bit busy around here this month, many apologies for the lack of updates-- but why don't we seal up the so long sucker tomb on April 2016 with a story from the June 1952 issue of The Thing #3, (also includes the inside front cover "Weird Wonders" bonus page), as well as deliver a promise (fingers crossed) to post a few more tales from this pricey Thing series in May!
STAY TOMBED!!!

The Curse of the Mandibles (Dr. Drew)
Who says Werewolf Wednesday has to be on a Wednesday? Derrrr, I only say this now because oops I forgot to hit publish on this post yesterday after uploading it! Distraction distractions!! And yeah, it's been a while since I featured a fun and frightening Dr. Drew horror mystery, so let's take a look at some more brilliant early work from Jerry Grandenetti (sorry, its been recolored by Eclipse in '85 though) and marvel at what some comic book legends could accomplish over half a century ago with just 8 pages to work with. Originally presented in the Oct '50 issue of Ranger Comics #55.

Devil-Music!
One more devilish tale for you before we move on to other horrific subject matter, this time from the March-April 1952 debut issue of Avon's Witchcraft #1. Some of you already know that I'm all about the Devil-Music, but despite a nice crash crash panel, this one just didn't pack enough heat nor did it cut the spicy hot mustard for inclusion in DEVIL TALES either. Nice inks by Vince Alascia though. And with this post, we complete another full issue presentation here at THOIA-- use the search engine to check the archives [or our new indices-- Nequam], you can get the other story titles from the last scan below which is highlighted by some really cool art from the great Sid Check.

The Devil's Prize
After posting Curse of the Werewolf last week, (also from the Jan '52 issue of Worlds of Fear #2), I was reminded by "Lil Raven" that there was still one story left from this issue to post, aka to chalk up as yet another THOIA full issue presentation. The story in question is the excellent Bob Powell chiller, The Devil's Prize, which I was positive I had already posted here at some point over the years. But no, apparently I had not, and then it occurred to me that it wound up in IDW / Yoe Books Bob Powell's Terror collection instead-- lord how I wish I could've included it in my Devil's Tales book too! In any event, and even if you already own the Powell collection, it deserves another summoning, if not for some superbly stunning panels (sock it to that skull!) and yes, to deem it yet another full issue blahblahblah here at THOIA. And don't forget to check the archive for the super creeptacular City of Fearful Night which we also reprinted in HAUNTED HORROR #13!
