(NOTE: the cover image at GCD for this issue of Web of Evil #19 is wrong… below is the correct cover--- plus a few sci-fi themed Ads.)

Another show of appreciation today goes out to my pal Chuck at the Comic Book Catacombs for presenting THOIA with the 2008 Special Achievement / Recognition Ghoulie Award! Apparently I went "above and beyond the call of duty" and someone actually noticed. Thanks so much Chuck, it really means alot!
Check out the Catacombs for a fun assortment of comic book related stuff old and new… I’m rather fond of the Golden Age Jungle Girl Comic posts myself (Rulah vs. the Devil Ladies posted on Halloween 2008 is one in particular not to be missed!) Thanks again Chuck!

Awwww!
I liked the art and pacing of the story at first. Then when Blake became a monster i said to myself "okay G-forces can turn you into Ulik from THOR, that's f*cking stupid". But since it seemed to be a novel way of turning someone into a monster(a low key QUATERMASS XPERIMENT.) i read on, and liked the twist of monsters from another dimension traveling by vibrations to posess your body(i see potential for a bad joke there.). In real life these kinds of experiments were being conducted on potential astronauts to prepare for the space race, so that's a novel edge, not "realistic" per se, but cool, wonder if this stopped any kids from going on rides at Disneyland, which had just opened.
ReplyDeleteFAR OUT STORY--LITERALLY! I WAS THINKING QUATERMASS XPERIMENT TOO WHILE READING IT, THE ART IS VERY REALISTIC AND NICELY DONE......A PERFECT PRODUCT OF SPACE PARANOIA FROM THE 1950S. THOSE ADS ARE COOL TOO, AND CONGRATS ON THE GHOULIE AWARD!
ReplyDeleteI HOPE CHUCK POSTS THE KILLER FROM SATURN STORY SOON, THE SPLASH IS AWESOME!!
i love me some Space Horror!

Nice to have a sci-fi injection every once in a while. Good story; thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnd CONGRATS ON THE GHOULIE.
If I had an award for Best Blogspot I'd send it right over. THOIA sure is my fave.
Wow, thanks for the great plug! Now, I doubly excited about the sci-Fi Horrors Week!
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations on the, well-deserved. Ghoulie Award

ReplyDeletecongrats on the ghoulieaward too
>i love me some Space Horror!
ReplyDeleteThis week's S/F theme will include more than just extra terrestrial terrors, there might be a mad scientist tale or two, and possibly an invasion from inner Earth! Still sorting it all out...
>If I had an award for Best Blogspot I'd send it right over. THOIA sure is my fave.
Thanks everyone, it is swell to know that all this endless daily posting is actually getting viewed and not just totally lost in the limitless realm of horror blogging. Anyone know what it takes to get a Rondo nomination?
