Brilliant in it's own little way....but the dead-letter punnery,the colorist's mistake when she stupidly calls him "darling" when he's made it clear he's through with her(a literal blond moment),it's just so cracktastic!(i've invented a word!).more!.
ReplyDeleteYeah, this is a great psychological thriller plot. Good noir. That has to be the most bizarrest ass splash panel narration I've ever read, too. My favorite panel is the one with the eyes coming out of the marsh. It might have been a little more terrifying without the cartoon eyebrows. It's as if undead Betty Boop is rising from the boggy depths....

This was perfect up until the last panel. My favorite part was where she read the first letter and turned into Smurfette.
ReplyDeleteCOOL STORY, THIS WOULD'VE MAKE A GOOD EPISODE ON HITCHCOCK OR TWILIGHT ZONE. I DONT UNDERTSAND WHY TODD THINKS THE LAST PANEL WAS NO GOOD THOUGH?

ReplyDeleteSilvano! I am shocked by this song choice. I know this band very very well and always thought I was the only one who remembered them. Their "Heaven or Hollywood" album sits comfortably in my top 20 favorite underground albums of all time (sounds like a lost Alice Cooper release in my opinion.) I still have it on import vinyl too, it's one of the prize possessions in my record collection and contains the original razor blade vagina cover art. Awesome band.
Oh, that was a good one. I couldn't stop clicking through the pages as fast as I could.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek number: those soul-searing spectral eyebrows, the "Dark And Stormy Night" opening lines, and the white-hot intensity of the female lead's overacting. Am I right in thinking that Mr. Ridge has a portrait of himself above his desk?
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know the "Hollywood" LP existed ; I have the "Letter from London" and my favourite "Fourteen women , Fifteen Days" , which features my favurite US song : "Caretaker" ( it actually sounds like an Alice Cooper tune ).These records were released in a time when I almost stopped buying music for some years ,since when I returned to buy records I bought nearly only vintage vynils and/or reprints of old stuff I'm quite misinformed about what happened to rock'n'roll after 1991 or so ...
