Heritage of Horror

Here's a spooky early shocker from comic book legend Joe Kubert to kick off our “Weird Witchcraft Weekend.” I’ll have another story from this issue tomorrow too.

From the March-April 1952 issue of Witchcraft #1

Had a blast casting these creepy comics this week; thank you for hosting such a rockin' good time! (I probably need to get out more.)

Thanks also to Mrs. Karswell. I am not a loser, if only for tonight.

  2. Mrs. K says "you're welcome" Kitty. Everyone did a great job this week with this casting call theme, I have an idea for the next contest but also wanted you peeps to shoot suggestions my way too. Have an idea for a cool THOIA contest? Let's hear it.

Also, honorable mention goes to Horror Pariah who had some really good choices this week too, if only you weren't moving... or?

  3. WOOHOO!!!!!

And I love the Kubert art in this one. He was a childhood favorite with his Tarzan and war comics art. I remember seeing so many variations of that ad. Fond memories.

EXCELLENT KUBERT TALE, I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE HOW INTIMIDATING IT PROBABLY IS/WAS TO BE IN ONE OF HIS ART CLASSES.

  11. I really enjoyed this one. The artwork is great, and the plot is like The Picture of Dorian Gray, re-created for speed freaks with low attention spans.
