Chilly Chamber Music

Or: “Songs from the Spookbox.” More examples of Harvey’s slow yet fun evolution into MAD territory with silly, issue filler sing-a-longs containing a horror theme. I’m assuming these are spoofs of songs that were popular in the early 50’s... anyone know for sure?

    The first song is "Oh My Darling, Clementine." The second song is harder to identify (it might be one of the songs from the musical "'Bye 'Bye Birdie"). The third song is "I've Got You Under My Skin." The last song is "Some Enchanted Evening" from the musical "South Pacific."

    Now will you be a good buddy and post "The Little People" like you promised?

    I'm back. The second song is definitely from the musical "'Bye 'Bye Birdie," and is called "We Love You Conrad."

    Thanks for the info, you guys know your old time standards much better than I do. Reading them back now it's obvious that the first one is Clementine... not sure I would have known the others.

    FYI: I traded off the Tomb of Terror #1 comic a couple months ago so sorry, no Little People.

    Not even close.

    It's actually "I Love You Truly" - done by Connie Francis and the Inkspots. Unless this was a version of We Love You Conrad, but as far as I know (and I've heard them both, but not completely) they are completely different songs:

    Lyrics to "I love you Truly":
    "I love you truly, truly dear
    Life with its sorrow, life with its tear
    Fades into dreams..."

    Lyrics to "We Love You Conrad"
    "We love you Conrad
    Oh yes we do
    We love you Conrad
    and will be true
    When you're not near us
    We're blue..."

    Melodies aren't even remotely the same as far as I know.
