Off-topic here, but I just got my copy of the Mammoth Book of Best Horror Comics (literally five minutes ago) that has been mentioned here before.
I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but wanted to let people know that it does indeed cover horror comics from 1940s to present, not just pre-code. Of its 544 pages, only the first 171 cover the 40s and 50s. The rest cover the 60s thru the 21st century.
The source of each story is identified (a rarity in pre-code reprint books) and each has a couple of paragraphs of introductory text. There are also intros to each section.
Entire book is in black and white. There is no color section, like (I think) there was in the Mammoth Book of Best War Comics. -AAG
I don't think I've ever read a zombie story quite like this one...nor ever met a doctor as quick-thinking, resourceful, and knowledgeable about the occult! Seriously, this dude's a walking undead encyclopedia, not to mention an expert on folk instrument fabrication from around the world!
I got my copy of Mammoh Book... from Amazon but you have to click on the "new and used" link. It has been released in the UK so I had to order it from a UK dealer, but the shipping was only like $3 and it got here in a little over a week.
Page 1 and 6 are working for me now. Must've been my end. Sorry!

Ahhh. I'm sure S&H to the U.S. would be more than I 'm willing to pay . I can wait it out until the domestic release happens. Thanks for the info!
WHAT A WEIRD STORY! ITS LIKE THE EYE MOVIE A LITTLE, WONDER IF OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE BEGUN DIGGING INTO PRECODE COMICS FOR STORY IDEAS?
ReplyDeleteSTREETERS ART IS REALLY NICE, AND HIS ZOMBIE IS SPOOKY! I LOVE THE MELTING PANELS ON THE LAST PAGE!

From the zombie chin-check on the splash page, I knew this was going to be a good one. Nice find!

Intriguing concept,i'm glad he DID know what he was doing,or else having Dru take him for a spin could have left them both corpses...for real.
ReplyDeleteKarswell, page 1 and 6 links seem to be...broken?
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks to Anonymous for the Mammoth Book heads up!
One more thing:
ReplyDeleteWhere can I purchase the Mammoth Book of Horror?!?

ReplyDeleteAnyone else having troubles with these pages? They work fine on my end... maybe try refreshing the page or clearing your cache?
