Eye gouging fun from Harvey today, with pleasing, illustrative eye candy from Lee Elias. You know, as a kid growing up in the 70’s I had legitimate store bought toys that actually ripped out your eyes too--- even without the requirement of witchcraft!
From the March 1952 issue of Witches Tales #8
ELIAS IS GREAT, HIS STYLE HAS BECOME AS RECOGNIZABLE TO ME NOW AS KIRBY. I LOVE THE WAY HE DRAWS FEMALE FACES, VERY SEXY. HIS WITCHES ARE GREAT TOO, I WENT BACK AND RE-READ MURDER MANSION WHICH IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES VISUALLY.
ReplyDeletethat blonde guy is too hot to be a trashman
ReplyDeleteI'm not 100% sure but I think the last couple panels of this story were the inspiration for Mr. Bill.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been much scarier had they survived and been adopted as children's toys, with the ending;"so the toys could be anywhere, any home...maybe yours!!." then Phil Phillips and Berit Kjos really WOULD have somenthing to bitch about.
ReplyDeletePretty creepy story anyway, this is the same guy who does the Harvey covers too right?
ReplyDeleteLee Elias did alot of the Harvey covers yes, but not all of them.
ReplyDeleteThe first panel on page 4 made me laugh out loud, the cop is standing there tapping his chin and pondering aloud like an eyeless mutilated corpse at his feet is an everyday occurance.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like the story didn't have an ending. Are you sure there isn't another page to this story?
ReplyDeleteEnds fine my friend, maybe you didn't read it correctly? I see the words "the end" in the final panel too which is also a sure sign of a story being over.
