Somewhere Waits the Vampire

From the May 1954 issue of Journey into Unknown Worlds #27 comes a horrifically romantic, atmospheric vampire tale with a twist, from the great Paul Reinman.

Poor Kraska, his true love gets the wrong end of the stake and then gets death-blinded by the only silver lining her dad could find...seriously,this was actually sad,and Reinman's art was great,he and Colletta and Heck weren't exactly anyones favorite inkers(or pencillers, though i love Heck's IRON MAN,never saw what was wrong with it,scratchiness?),but damn they were good on their own, really love the use of shadows and hatching, more Reinman in the future?.

REINMAN IS GREAT AND THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVER SAW A BEAR TRAP USED TO STOP A VAMPIRE I THINK. THE LOOK ON HER FACE IN THE LAST COUPLE PANELS GAVE ME THE CHILLS!

I love the vampire in this one! I really prefer when they're more animalistic and less human in appearence, even the hillbilly vampires from yesterday with the bat wings were superb. Cool stuff.

  6. This was indeed a cut above the rest, and that's saying something, as enjoyable as all of these have been.

  7. So all week I've been mixin' it up with vamps and witches, but tomorrow we're going full-on vampire only mode though. Gonna lighten the load, and what I mean by that is I have some humorous vampires taking on a rather hairless Count in a THOIA first --- 3 Stories in One Day! Yeah, I know, losing my freakin' mind...

  8. So--you shot your daughter with an arrow, the doctor patched her up, and then you trapped her in a bear trap?

Why not just send her hunting with Dick Cheney?
