Hallowe’en just a few days away, the wide world o’blog is undoubtedly offering you lots and lots of
Dracula this week. But not us. Simply put---
THOIA can’t afford him. Hell, we can’t even afford
Blacula, let alone
Count Duckula, Chocula, Smokula, Bunnicula, or
Rockula. So, all apologies, today instead we offer you
Count Tracula, from the July 1952 issue of
Journey into Fear #8. He’s bald. But also let it be known that he is actually the least ridiculous aspect of this truly obnoxious story.
Okay, you’ve read the story now, show of hands: Who thought Alvin was more of a crackpot than Tracula?

Wow,that is the kind of science that could ONLY exist in comic books,insane.And who hasn't dreamt they were in their favorite story at some point?,i'd tell my experiences,but it's not exactly "clean" stuff,or even funny stuff,anyone else got one?.

You know, I won´t get this utterly idiotic name of Tracula out of my head today. I can feel it burrowing deeper and deeper. "I am ... Tracula!" How could they!

And I bet Alvin and his sweetheart married and he went on to become a great politican. Big ideas but not a clue.

OH GOD THAT WAS FUNNY AND YES ALVIN WAS MUCH MORE A LOON THAN TRACULA BUT THEN AGAIN SO IS JEAN I GUESS FOR GOING ALONG WITH ANY OF THIS HAIRBRAINED SCIENTIFIC SCHEME. LOVE THE FALLING PANEL ON THE LAST PAGE...... A CLASSIC.

ReplyDeleteAlso, do you guys like the TCM movie and DVD news posts? With a few exceptions it seems like no one really comments on them... I may quit doing them because it of course takes time to put together those posts as much as the pre code stories. Let me know, maybe starting next month I'll just shitcan the movie stuff and focus only on the comic stuff.
You know I love the movie stuff. This looks like one of the best 48 hour line up of movies you could ask for. I'm surprised there isn't more movie interest. This seems like the perfect crowd for it.

No, I love the movie posts. I don't so much comment on them as I do quickly click over to see how many I want to see and what time they're on. And then I'm at tcm.com, not here anymore.
Consider them a public service announcement, maybe? I know I appreciate them. I still remember a really craptastic work day where the only thing that kept me going was knowing - thanks to you - that Spider Baby would be on within 15 minutes of my arrival home.
