Pages of Death

With Hallowe’en just a few days away, the wide world o’blog is undoubtedly offering you lots and lots of Dracula this week. But not us. Simply put--- THOIA can’t afford him. Hell, we can’t even afford Blacula, let alone Count Duckula, Chocula, Smokula, Bunnicula, or Rockula. So, all apologies, today instead we offer you Count Tracula, from the July 1952 issue of Journey into Fear #8. He’s bald. But also let it be known that he is actually the least ridiculous aspect of this truly obnoxious story.

Okay, you’ve read the story now, show of hands: Who thought Alvin was more of a crackpot than Tracula?
Also! Don't miss a thing over at Pappy's house, he's running Hallowe'en horrors all week. And lots of creepy stuff (old and new) over at The Fortress as well.

Wow,that is the kind of science that could ONLY exist in comic books, insane. And who hasn't dreamt they were in their favorite story at some point?,i'd tell my experiences, but it's not exactly "clean" stuff,or even funny stuff, anyone else got one?.

  2. But ...but... Tracula was going to show her how a vampire can love!

And while we're how the heck were the characters in Little Women supposed to show Alvin how he could get out of the book? I don't remember any trans-dimensional rocket scientists in that book.

Oh ... and thanks for the link! It's much appreciated!!

  4. You know, I won´t get this utterly idiotic name of Tracula out of my head today. I can feel it burrowing deeper and deeper. "I am ... Tracula!" How could they!

I liked Roger. This was a man with the best plan of murder ever.

And I bet Alvin and his sweetheart married and he went on to become a great politican. Big ideas but not a clue.

    Great story.

  6. If she chose Alvin over Roger and Tracula, she deserves whatever she gets.

"Tracula"? This is great... I kept expecting Herbie Popnecker to show up and bop Tracula with a lollipop!

  9. Alvin should have consulted with Gumby about this book-entering thing- but then he probably would've tried to turn himself into green clay!

they show Herschell Gordon Lewis movies on televison?!? what a world, what a world...

THOIA makes my day, every day!

  10. Once they finally do invent "Jump into Book" technology, I'm totally gonna pay a visit to Exodus (got a few modification suggestions for our flawed creator.)

    TOMORROW: Return of the Witches!

  11. Meant Genesis above... so much for calling the Almighty kettle flawed.

Also, do you guys like the TCM movie and DVD news posts? With a few exceptions it seems like no one really comments on them... I may quit doing them because it of course takes time to put together those posts as much as the pre code stories. Let me know, maybe starting next month I'll just shitcan the movie stuff and focus only on the comic stuff.

You know I love the movie stuff. This looks like one of the best 48 hour line up of movies you could ask for. I'm surprised there isn't more movie interest. This seems like the perfect crowd for it.

    Heh.

No, I love the movie posts. I don't so much comment on them as I do quickly click over to see how many I want to see and what time they're on. And then I'm at tcm.com, not here anymore.

Consider them a public service announcement, maybe? I know I appreciate them. I still remember a really craptastic work day where the only thing that kept me going was knowing - thanks to you - that Spider Baby would be on within 15 minutes of my arrival home.

"Tracula"?? Ironically, in another browser window right now, I have Nosferatu going. Between the two, I guess Stoker's family was litigation-happy?

    ...."can't afford dracula....blacula...etc"

...but how could you afford to not mention jacula

.....examples of much elation of jacula over at "the groovy age of horror"

  16. >how could you afford to not mention jacula

If we're gonna get that picky I guess I could've mentioned Spermula too.
