  5. Don't enter me, I'll be buying it myself in a bit. Yoe needs to eat!

OK, Panic Magazine. I think, as far as I can tell, this was something by the Farrell guys later on, in the late 50s. It's so confusing because, of course, MAD had it's own clone at EC, Panic (which, in many ways, I thought was slightly superior to MAD. Yes, this is a controversial opinion!). Stupid comics and their naming!

The Davis gag is just pure Davis. Even the mad scientist's expression at the end isn't what you'd expect (he's not fearful, just pissed that his plan backfired.). The joke's not great, but Davis sells the hell out of it.

Darn, I wish I had this! Looks great from the samples. Also, unrelated, but Mykal's back to posting on the Big Blog of Kids Comics after quite a few years. Check the two newest posts out.

  19. I would be very pleased to add this to my horde of promo give aways from THOIA. It is virtually certain you will draw my name from the hat, Karswell. You will not be able to stop yourself. Winning THOIA prizes is my other superpower. The primary one is being able to shake exactly two pills from any bottle, like aspirins for example. However, that has proven useless in real world applications while my THOIA power has made me wealthy in third world countries.

  21. Yeah, that Jack Davis bit is solid gold. A long-time fave. And what I wouldn't give for full subscriptions to Cadavalier (I collect the Bone Bodē cartoons from the back) and Monstieur (tres fric!). Those are just great ideas, right there--funny and thrilling. Slayboy, on the other hand, is actually kind of terrifying.
