In comic shops now (available everywhere else on November 18th!) it's The WORST of Eerie Publications, the latest book in the Chilling Archives of Horror Comics collections from IDW / Yoe Books, and ferocious follow-up to Mike Howlett's superb and equally sickening The Weird World of Eerie Publications. With "the worst", we're actually getting a taste of the best, with nearly 2 dozen Eerie Pub stories gore-geously reprinted in black and white, full-cover covers and originals, info on publisher Myron Fass and the artists associated, and lots more! Outstandingly produced and designed by Jason Willis, just try to find another comic book collection with more severed heads, bulging eyeballs, and blood drenched pages than this --it even comes with a barf bag!
Click HERE to order your copy, and below we have a tease taste, encore presentation of a Dick Ayers classic found within the putrid pages that'll really knock your block 'n socks off!
Many thanks, my good sir!
ReplyDeleteBizarre... and the response of the authorities is asinine.
ReplyDeleteJumping Jehosophat!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of "Terror blu"
I feel uneasy...
Comic book physics have always been an open question, but that splash, the axe is coming down perpendicular to her head yet instead of splitting, it flies off vertically! I guess that explains the physics of the breasts and shirt surrounding them!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun story as one wonders if you are supposed to feel sorry for our anti-hero or not. Obviously driven by external forces, but still a heinous murderer, he still looses to those same outside forces in death.
Isn't this an exact ripoff of the legendary "I killed Mary!"?
ReplyDeleteYes, as I mentioned back in 2010 when I first posted this story,

this is another example of an Eerie Pub REMAKE.
There seems to be quite a few people commenting here lately that still don't know that nearly all of Eerie Pub's story output was simply taking old 50's precode horror stories and either straight reprinting, or completely re-doing them for the 60's/70s, updating clothing and hairdos to match the times, as well as additional bucket loads of gore.
Use the THOIA archives and search "Eerie Pub remakes", there are plenty of examples.
Very interesting. Same text, even the "jumping Jehosophat" line.
ReplyDeleteHow comes I find the original is decent and even touching(especially the last two panels), and the remake just gross and idiotic?
That cover is outrageous even for Eerie. It reminds me of that Terry Gilliam sequence about cannibalism in that one Monty Python episode, which was strong enough to sometimes get censored on this or that TV station.
