Timepiece of Terror
Here's another one from the April 1954 issue of Web of Evil #13 (see the previous Demon Inferno post too.) This is an all 'round good issue with some wild stories, so I'm contemplating posting the entire issue. Unfortunately, this is one of the worst condition comics in my collection, it's heavily water damaged and very brittle, hence why I rarely ever remove it from its bag and board. If you're interested in seeing the remaining two stories let me know, otherwise it's going back into its coffin. Okay, GCD has no artistic credit listed for this one, but there are some definite Jack Cole-esque moments scattered about-- I wonder if he had a hand in this at any point? Anyone got any clues or doubts to throw about?

Frankendstew
Everyone is going rightfully crazy over the new Afterlife with Archie horror comic book series (issue #2 just came out this week), it's really good, very dark and very gruesome, and definitely NOT for the kiddies, so click HERE for info about if you're not quite hip to it yet-- hey, they're even reprinting stories in the back of it from the short-lived Chilling Adventures in Sorcery series from the 70's (which we featured here at THOIA a few months back, as well as over at my other blog too.) We love the Archies around here as much as we love zombies, vamps, mummies, and saaaay Frankenstein... and with that in mind we thought it would be fun to give you a silly taste of the monstery Frankenstein side of Riverdale life, a wild bit of mad-cap mad science, with a fun male/female role reversal twist-- from the July 1974 issue of Life with Archie #147.

What's in the West Wing?
Another Ken Landau tale from the June-July 1967 issue of Unknown Worlds #56 (see our last post HERE), and this one is a bit more typical of his detailed art style that most of us are more familiar with from his precode days. It's a fast paced, atmospheric, and predictable little 6-page mystery-- and for those of you who see the end coming from a mile away please reward yourself with a banana.

"Go Get Yourself Some Guts, Gil!"
There's been a lot of Ken Landau pre-code horror work showcased here at THOIA over the years, now today I present a spooky, kooky, fun, and sometimes funny example of his post code horror work from ACG's June-July 1967 issue of Unknown Worlds #56. Ken's style is very distinct, (we'll see a more familiar Landau look in the next post), but todays story feels a bit stripped down and stylized in a way that I'm not sure I've ever seen him attempt before visually, it's kind of cool for what is essentially a silly, 11-page adventure into the realm of monsters tale. Anyway, this is a leftover Halloween story that I never got around to posting last month because I was still out on a much needed vacation-- enjoy! (Cover art by Edvard Moritz.)
