Today we have one of the most violent and awesomely repulsive pre-code tales ever, originally featured in the August 1953 issue of Dark Mysteries #13. I posted this many zombie moons ago here at THOIA, and now it can also be found in the new IDW / Yoe Books Chilling Archives of Horror Comics hardcover series collection ZOMBIES by Craig Yoe and Steve "Karswell" Banes-- in comic book shops today, and everywhere else in 2 weeks! Be sure to drop me a line and let us know if your local comic store is carrying the book, if they are not then tell them they should--- or else! We'd love to hear from you if you do buy it today... and a very sincere thanks to all the websites and blogs out there that helped promote it by spreading the word!
(If your site mentions or reviews ZOMBIES, please copy and paste your link into the comments section here, or send us a picture of yourself with your new favorite zombie book to karswell@hotmail.com --THANK YOU!)

Skull House / FrightFeast
Another typically scummy (but fun) Superior Publishers Limited tale about hee-heein' and gaaa glurgin' people to death or something, from the May 1954 issue of Strange Mysteries #17. It's hilarious to me how the ominous "Skull House" (first page, panel two) simply looks like one of those round, silver mid century style mobile trailer homes!
And speaking of scummy fun (the brutal / modern kind), a big thanks to my truly disturbed friends in the UK for sending me a copy of FrightFeast, (as well as a rad original piece of art!) Indie splatter punk meets Eerie Publications in a boiling vat of barf and gore... it's definitely not for everybody, but then if it was-- it wouldn't be so recommended! Click HERE for more!

Something to Tide You Over
Update: IDW / Yoe Book's ZOMBIES gets a new release date-- it will now be in comic shops on May 30th (instead of this week), while regular book stores, as well as Amazon, will have it available on June 12th. In the meantime, here's "Something to Tide You Over"-- literally! From the Stephen King CREEPSHOW graphic novel (July 1982), and illustrated by the great Berni Wrightson. Check our posts from earlier this month for more on Creepshow-- also see: "Father's Day", another amazing undead adaptation ready for resurrecting from the THOIA Archives. "It's showtime!"

I Am a Zombie!
I first posted this great Lin Streeter zombie tale from the Dec. 1953 issue of Advs into the Unknown #50, way back in August of 2007, when THOIA was merely a month old. This re-post presentation comes full circle with the release of IDW / Yoe Book's release of ZOMBIES by me and Craig Yoe on May 22nd, and our book contains this terrific tale too, (as well as many others.) And hey, if you haven't viewed the ZOMBIES book preview clip yet on youtube, then click HERE!

Back from the Dead! + Creepshow
Here's the remainder of the awesome Creepshow article from the fall 1982 issue of Cinefantastique Vol. 13 #1 (see previous post for part one), as well as my Creepshow DVD cover signed by Tom Savini and Adrienne Barbeau when I met them both here in StL a few years ago at a horror convention. But first, a sad little number of love, betrayal, and the walking, talking, acting dead-- from the Feb. 1953 issue of Adventures into Weird Worlds #15.

Back from the Grave + Creepshow
The undead continue their insatiable attack upon THOIA this month with a weird one from Stan Lee and Fred Kida, from the November 1952 issue of Astonishing #19. And as a bonus, we have the first half of a lengthy, 20 page Creepshow article from the Fall 1982 issue of Cinefantastique Vol. 15 #1. It's a fascinating piece on the best pre-code horror inspired film ever-- enjoy!
