A few months ago I promised someone a Skeleton Hand story, so sincerest apologies as I'm just now getting around to it. And actually, I have two tales for you from the July-Aug '53 issue of Skeleton Hand #6 (the last issue from this series) featuring two great ACG artists, Lin Streeter and Jon Blummer.
The purple prose in the first story is terrific. Highly entertaining if you like that kind of stuff.
ReplyDelete“Terror House” could use a bit of tweaking, and a visual style; but it's really a nice, moody piece.
ReplyDeleteI like Lin Streeter very much.
ReplyDeleteDid a lot for ACE horror comic books. His earlier work is even moodier.
As I will reveal in my ACE horror website next year.
I thought Lin Streeter was a woman. Lin?! Jim Vadeboncoeur, Jr. told me "Nah, it's a guy" - does anyone know for sure?
I love Lin Street too, a very dynamic artist with a super crisp, clean style. I'm currently working on a project that includes some Streeter work-- news on that coming soon! Thanks for the comments!
ReplyDeleteI really like that clown car full of criminals that defines nearly every panel of the Body. The story has such a clear, cartoony style--in the compositions more than the details, maybe--that it lends a lot of verve to a pretty everyday tale. Streeter's clean art is excellent as always, but I am particularly impressed with Blummer's wit here. His choices seem more gutsy and extravagant. I do wish that last page had been two pages, though--the final car crash deserved at least as much attention as the gas station scene.
ReplyDeleteCheck the archives for more Streeter and Blummer-- lots of great tales await for those who are new around here.
