***ADULTS ONLY!!*** If you've missed the recent posts over at AEET, we're celebrating Halloween a month early there by "Skipping September" altogether and jumping right into the spooky stuff. This also includes the kooky stuff, and no one was kookier than National Lampoon Magazine, who unleashed their great, all "HORROR" issue in November 1971. For obvious reasons I saved this Neal Adams illustrated vampire spoof classic for posting here at THOIA, add to that the additional cover art by Frank Frazetta, as well as a pulpy bonus image from Gray Morrow-- and well, this is definitely one hell of a fun issue! See more HERE!
Wow. Those "Christian Louboutin Petal Sandals" are hot as hell.
ReplyDelete(ahem) Anyway, the more I see of Neal Adams, the more his work amazes me. He has even crept ahead of Wally Wood and John Buscema in my personal hall of fame. I have an issue of Conan the Barbarian done by him that belongs in the Louvre. Thanks so much for posting.
I couldn't believe that last panel, where that guy is tuning the girl like a radio. I had a buddy that used to say he loved tuning in "radio free Europe." I thought it was just his little joke. I guess it must be a more universal guy thing. We're disgusting pigs.
I've done my best to think of another phrase for big breasts but it seems that last panel about covers it.
WHOA!!! Where did you find this?/ Adams and Frazetta!!?? kick ass man!!
ReplyDeletei never knew Neal Adams could draw so funny! this was pretty damn fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the rest of you, but personally I enjoy hanging around on building ledges, stark naked. It's that refreshing feeling of the breeze blowing over my butt crack that makes it so addictive!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, the word verification is "donts." I suppose that would be all the people shouting in horror "For the love of God, don't do that!" as I stood on the ledge in the buff.
Funny; but what happened to yesterday's stories? (Hope my post didn't offend anyone!)

I'm torn. As a lover of comics, the art in this one is great. As a gay man, I must say that I couldn't help loving Dragula--he is so humorously flamboyant. Oddly, I found the lesbian stereotype more offensive. Perhaps it was all tongue in cheek. I guess I'll file it under guilty pleasure.
ReplyDeleteOverall, this is an amazing blog!
This is such a great blog.
ReplyDelete>Christian Louboutin Petal Sandals
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love a sexy female foot in a sleek pair of shoes, I really do think you should peddle your wares on another more appropriate blog, Ms. High Heels... thank you.
>I've done my best to think of another phrase for big breasts but it seems that last panel about covers it.
Haha, indeed Mykal, indeed!
>WHOA!!! Where did you find this?
In the Nov. '71 issue of National Lampoon Magazine, Frank!
>i never knew Neal Adams could draw so funny! this was pretty damn fabulous.
Tantalizing, even!
>It's that refreshing feeling of the breeze blowing over my butt crack that makes it so addictive!
Haha, the Advs of Buttman continue... or in this case, Butt Girl!
>Funny; but what happened to yesterday's stories? (Hope my post didn't offend anyone!)
I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm glad we got a gay perspective on this post, and please note that DRAGULA was most certainly not posted by me with an intent to offend anyone... but it was of course most certainly first published by NL in 1971 to do just that, (then being an era when the words "politcally correct" meant very little.)
>This is such a great blog.
Why thank you Crow Jane, I've been having a blast digging through your archives as well. Thanks for stopping by.
Got an Atlas request coming up next, and it's a very very unique one at that. I'm surprised I have not yet posted here in all these years. It's... it's... coming...
Karswell, sir; weren't there a bunch of WWII/(possibly) Holocaust-related stories in day before's blog? I especially remember the one about the poor yoong lady whose hands were flayed for gloves for the Kommandant; and the one set in Italy about the bobbytrapped boots which some *poor cobbler had to make out of what turned out to be his own son's skin*!

ReplyDeleteNo, those stories were posted back in April 2009, here:

And another nazi tale from the archive, DB:

Thanks; my bad! Also; about "Dragula"; maybe that explains all of the "guy on guy" and "girl on girl" biting action in at least the old Hammer vampire movies! Who knew there were *so many "bi"/"switch hitter" vampires out there!:)
