Insanity and madness have taken over THOIA today, and our first tale from the February 1954 issue of Adventures into Terror #28 (art by Al Eadeh of course) might just be the cure you need to finally cut loose and really become something you are not tonight! Followed by an appropriately themed holiday yarn, originally presented in the September 1956 issue of Adventure into Mystery #3.
Happy Halloween, you fiends!
I am only going to say what many will say, I'm sure. The illustration between the two fine stories is the most terrifying of all.
ReplyDeleteInsane looked like it was drawn by an insane person(no joke!)and World Gone Mad was just cool, who'd have expected a happy ending?
ReplyDeletestill, the look in the little girl's eyes while scanning the candy tray was enough to scare me...
Happy Halloween, Kars!
She is certainly eyeing that Baby Ruth candy bar with mucho zeal. thata girl!
ReplyDeleteFreddy
In panel 2 of page 2 of "A World Gone Mad," the dog looks like a gigantic cat.
ReplyDeleteIn panel 3, his schnozz has grown considerably.
He must belong to the Baby Ruth girl.
Hope you had a great night Karswell!
ReplyDeleteSome great shots in Insane.. the close up of the eyball on page 2 and I love him being rejected by the hairy paw of the other inmate.
The simple old days when you could when you could change street signs effortlessly are a thing of the past I guess.
>The illustration between the two fine stories is the most terrifying of all.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt about it Myk, it's a gorgeous advertising painting!
>Insane looked like it was drawn by an insane person
I think at this point, and after all the Al Eadeh posts here at THOIA over the years, that we can all rest assured and agree on one simple fact--- by looking at his artwork, yes, Eadeh must have most definitely been INSANE. Thank you Al!
>She is certainly eyeing that Baby Ruth candy bar with mucho zeal.
Indeed. Vampire women tend to have that same look in their eyes too when coming atcha!
>the dog looks like a gigantic cat.
Maybe the neighborhood prankster kids in this story turned all the dogs into black cats for Halloween too?
>Hope you had a great night Karswell!
Wasn't bad Drazz, did the usual with my kid and his friends from the hood (unfortunately none of them are old enough yet to pull fun Halloween pranks--- but maybe next year!)
Everyone have a fun Halloween? I hope so, if not, you only have 365 more days to go until the next one. See ya'll in November!
Insane was pretty good, although it's a bit strange that, given testimony that he actually transformed into a vampire and not just displayed traits of vampirism, no one wondered whether they could actually kill him with an electric chair...
ReplyDeleteThe Eadeh work in the first story was maybe my favorite example yet. Or maybe it's just that the story itself fit Al's quirky stuff so appropriately.
ReplyDeleteI dug the happy fifties Halloween story, too. Some bigger sweat beads and that guy would have been a dead ringer for R. Crumb.
Happy belated Halloween, everybody!
