DRACULA: The Vampire's Curse (Part One)
Back in January I posted the Dell Movie Classic version of The Creature from the Black Lagoon (click HERE.) Today we resurrect the October - December 1962 Dell version of Dracula, (aka "The Vampire's Curse"), from Movie Classic #231. This is a very different, almost complete re-vamping of the classic Stoker story that we all know, but it's still a decently told, atmospheric tale with unusually moody and occasionally gorgeous artwork from Max Elkan. Come back this weekend for part two!

ReplyDeleteI'm wondering why I passed these Dell monster books up when they came out. I saw them on the stands but skipped them. I might have been disappointed they weren't the classic monster stories we saw in the movies. Now that you've posted them I see I missed something.

I actually think that's the one really good thing about these Dell Monster comics, that they went off and did their own take. This Dracula issue and The Creature are good examples of making it work, now The Wolfman issue I'm not so crazy about.
