Terror in Town (+ Crazy Blogs!)

Yesterday you saw Carmine Infantino’s The Vampire Maker, a story so weird and wild that Atlas assigned George Tuska to deliver a sequel shocker just two issues later. And believe me peeps; part two is every bit as good as yesterday’s. Enjoy!

From the Feb ‘53 issue of Adventures into Weird Worlds #15

  1. Hey, I apologize for the condition of these scans, this issue is totally brown, brittle, chipping and split spine and ugh... sorry, but I think everything should be easy enough to read. I have another cool story from this issue tomorrow too, of slightly better condition.

I hope everyone had an excellent weekend, all next week is packed with evil: ghosts of war, cobra women, devil dolls, more monsters, and more More MORE! Stay creepy...

Probably just taciturn. Some of us are. ;)

No worries about the scans. The brilliant art comes through fine. :)

That kid in the Yogi story is way too close to the screen.

Truly awesome sequel!.you never know what weird two-parters exist on the fringes of the Marvel Universe!,i also loved the art, perfect match-up and on par with the original.also love how we never get to KNOW the narrator,i was expecting a twist where he was the killer, red herring?if so nice touch.my only gripe is that he was never re-used again, maybe a sequel to AGENTS OF ATLAS can have him fight the Brain!....you listening Quesada?.

The Frankenstein theme in Vampire Killer and Terror in Town has inspired a post on my Frankensteinia blog. I hope you like it.

  7. Those stupid, ignorant villagers with their pent-up fury and small-minded ways! When will they learn!

  8. "condition of these scans"????? You are a perfectionist! I see fiche scan all the time; the worst pannel here is a hundred times better than the best of those.

Cool story, but that's pretty much every day here.

so who wins the art award this weekend, infantino or tuska? pretty close draw for me but maybe the first half is a little better than the second but damn they are both so great

  12. Even if the ending was not so unexpected , a great story anyway !
My only regret is that Marvel didn't think of reviving the "Vampire Monster" during its "horror revival" of the seventies ; try to think of a Vampire Monster series drawn by Ploog or Wrightson ...
    Thanks for sharing !

  13. Okay, so maybe these scans don't look so bad, a crazy weekend leads to crazy outbursts of sheer, uh, craziness. And as much as I love Tuska, I think (to answer someone's question), that Carmine won this round.

One more Atlas tale tomorrow, and FYI: Tuesday I have what I think is a Gene Colan story from Ace Comics, I'm about 99.9% sure but maybe Ger needs to step in and make the official call.

I also want to thank Pierre one more time for his great "Vampire Frankenstein" post over at Frankensteinia today too which acknowledges the two stories that me and Brian posted here this weekend. Thank you! And as mentioned, DO NOT miss his new Monster Crazy blog.

    See ya in the mourn...

  14. Two good stories, and as mentioned, they just prove that villagers never learn.

  15. brilliant post! i was beginning to think i was the only bloke in the world who thought George Tuska was cool. i mention him 'round my local comic shop, and people start barfing all over the gaff. damn them youngsters!!!

i've popped a link to your Tuska tales on my latest post over on me own blog ( curiously enough, a George Tuska comic ). hope that's cool with you.

man, i wish i could get away with posting the whole of his Planet of the Apes job. . .

  16. Probably would have made more sense to build an army of robots to kill all the vampires if he could be a robot that realistic. Plus the villagers wouldn't have killed him
