Karen Black

Happy Birthday Karen Black, star of some of the most fondly remembered horror classics of the 70’s like Trilogy of Terror, Burnt Offerings, The Strange Possession of Mrs. Oliver, and more, also blazing in Easy Rider, Day of the Locust, 5 Easy Pieces, The Great Gatsby, Family Plot etc… still very busy in film today, modern horror fans know her as Mother Firefly in House of 1000 Corpses.

Born this day in Park Ridge IL in 1939.

  2. She's one of my favorites too, and very underrated as an actress I believe... I think people mostly associate her with horror which is weird because if you look at her IMdb list you'll see that she's made way more films from other genres. I met her in LA a few years ago, a wonderful woman and still very very attractive.

  4. Man, Karen Black is almost Seventy? I would have pegged her for late 50's, early 60's... Quite the ageless wonder isn't she?

Of course, if that was the case, she would have played 'Painted Woman' in The Prime Time at like, 10 years old... Once again, beaten by mathmagic...

  5. Happy birthday, Karen Black.

Man, I had somehow forgotten she was in the Trilogy of Terror. Even just remembering the one part of it with the Zuni Doll still gives me the creeps, heh.

Ahhh a reference to the NY art band, good one HP. I saw them perform many times in LA (once in STL.) Under all that paint and raw eggs lead singer Kembra is actually one of the most gorgeous women on the planet.

    >Karen Black is almost Seventy?

    Staggermath!

    >I had somehow forgotten she was in the Trilogy of Terror

That is quite an oversight Nicolas, considering Karen plays FOUR roles in the film as well! ha ha

  8. We watched her in "Little Laura and Big John" last night to celebrate her birthday. I've always been a fan.
