Man if there was ever an actor who deserve a happy birthday it's Darren McGavin.. He is consistantly great in all roles and thats rare.. To add to what Karswell was saying The generation before Kolchack remembers him as Mike Hammer!!! This is a true screen legend!!
Dr Phibes, I am familiar with The Doll in Brambles, having recently purchased a dvd containing a handful of unsold television pilots from the early 1960's. The Doll in Brambles was from a series called Witchcraft and was to be hosted by Franchot Tone. Apparently only one episode was ever produced.
And the generation before Hammer fondly remembers McGavin as Captain Grey Holden on the Riverboat series, (which also starred a very young Burt Reynolds in his earliest continuing tv role.) A collection of "best episodes" was just released on DVD last October.
I've seen the Witchcraft "Doll in Brambles" pilot too, could have been a fun little series if only...
Nothing beats the Night Stalker series, one of the greatest!
ReplyDeleteOH HELL YES! BEST SHOW EVER!!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how one generation will remember him always as Carl Kolchak, while the following generation will forever know him as Old Man Parker.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember him as Mike Hammer?
I love The Night Stalker!
