Dick Ayers Weekend continues with another super spooky, corpse clogged chiller. This story is a good example of how curiosity is not the only thing that can kill the cat… so can the imagination.
I’ve heard tales of decomposition gases in corpses causing bodies to very subtly move around on their own, or sometimes even suddenly sit up in their casket… anyone out there know if there’s any truth to this or is it just an urban legend/myth?
Escaping gas bubbles have been blamed for everything from the Hindenburg to Loch Ness Monster sightings,i know it makes 'em sit up,but i THINK that's about it.as for the story, awesome.
I agree with Horror Pariah, very awesome story today. Both of the Dick Ayers posts this weekend we fantastic. It's always a thrill to see what you'll come up with next!
Great stuff, very Poe-like! The imaginary images of the corpses sitting up and pointing, that's the stuff of nightmares right there! And the ending is just fantastic. Wonderful stuff!
And the writing is so good I can't even find anything to mock! True quality! :)
I too love the belching gas scene, it actually makes me kind of nauseous just thinking about it.
I find this story nearly flawless as well, not 100% sure about the blubbering finger on the lip ending though as there seems to be much better ways of conveying "gone loco" than how Bugs Bunny would've done it.

Rule #1 of being a hitman. Don't wear a bright yellow jacket!
