Dracula (Parts 1 & 2)

As I velcome you today to the first post of March, I also velcome you to Vampire Veek, uh… Week. And to truly get into the evil spirit of things it’s only proper for me to drop my crummy vampire accent and start right here with the first ever comic book version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, (so sayeth GCD.) It’s a decent adaptation too, touching on a few points in the original novel that most of the movie versions tend to leave out, and really nice artwork too (anyone know by who?) [GCD now credits Gene Fawcette and Vince Alascia -- Nequam] If this four part, full issue classic has any faults it’s that the story itself is just a tad bit rushed… but never you mind, kick back and enjoy Parts One and Two today--- it is Double Post Saturday after all.

THIS IS A COOL ADAPTATION, LOVE THE ART TOO. I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT THE STORY FEELING A LITTLE RUSHED BUT THIS IS STILL VERY WELL DONE. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT PART!

Nicely done. Dracula could be scarier looking but it still works.

So is this really the very first comic book adaptation? If so this is quite an historic post!

Excellent adaption, more faithful than any of the movies(yes you,mr. Coppola),but with all superfulous elements gone.the only thing missing is Drac's age, moustache, and pointy ears and hairy palms(can see why that was left out).makes me wish Chris Lee would star in a faithful adaption before he croaks.

  4. I always marvel how adaptable Stoker´s novel is.

Here is every important plot-point covered. Good work.

    Thanks for the post.

As far as I can tell yes. GCD seems to think so too. If anyone knows otherwise please let me know.

    >makes me wish Chris Lee would star in a faithful adaption

Well, it's not too faithful but if you want Chris Lee as Dracula AND sporting a porno moustache try Franco's Count Dracula ('70)

  7. Synchronicity! I just started reading Bram Stoker's novel to my son as a bedtime story (he's 8, and he gets advanced reader points for it in his class)! I love the castle on the cover here, esp. the warped, half-broken drawbridge. Lets you know that once you cross that threshold, things are much more twisted and decayed! Or maybe that's the English major in me talking.

    Great post!
