Great US / Japanese / Italian co-production... I suggest you also the sci-fi movies of Antonio Margheriti aka Anthony M. Dawson... like this one: http://www.archive.org/details/Assignment_Outer_Space
Antonio Margheriti's sci-fi stuff is really entertaining but sometimes hampered by the budget. I mean you can tell he's dying to deliver a great fantasy film but just can't quite make it with what he's got to work with. On the other hand his gothic horror masterpieces like Danza Macabra, Vergine di Norimberga, and Lunghi capelli della morte are incredible. I finally saw Nude... si muore not long ago and thought it was alot of fun too.
Yes, many italian directors work with low budget, and the result is great, but sometime is good also for to sleep after a day of hard working... another great is Mario Bava, this is my favorite director. This summer I have taken some shot from the Mario Bava movie location near Rome, I have sleap in the little village of "Kill Baby Kill", a very scary place. Soon I will put these photo in my blog.
Bava is one of my all time favorite directors too... I've done quite a few posts on this blog about him and his films. Looking forward to those pix of the Kill Baby village!
Oh man what a classic! I had to listen to the song at the end about 12 times!
