I never got to read CREEPY and ilk when i was young, when i did it was just a bunch of stupid sci-fi crap,so i never appreciated it,till i later learned that i'd been reading the "dark ages" of it,i recently bought #'s 2 & 3,it was very campy at first, the first issue had a funny cover!,but in the'70's,WHOOO! it produced some excellently gory stuff.
I'd like to check out more of this stuff too... I remember reading some Warren stuff in the 70's but I was too much into the Marvel GA horror reprints to collect anything else.
I think that Corben did some of his best work for the Warren magazines back in the 70s.This is one of his best.I also like Forgive us our trespasses,Child,The Raven,Bowser,You're a big girl now, and Judas.I hope you post more of the Warren stuff here.thanks
I'm browsing through the archives and I know I'm commenting on an old old posting, but...
This shit is GOOD. No...it is THE SHIT. O_O
I LOVE THIS SHIT!!!
(Yes that means it isn't shit. ^^ )
The first one had the "Holy fuck!" moment (the TRUE anti-christ turns out not to be the baby, but the murderous zealot) and the second one was quite sad; it was a story of broken people and of the chain reaction/Domino effect that they cause and told of how one person's/more that one peoples' craziness affects another and then the craziness is inherited and then that person affects another and so on. The last panel particularly hit hard, because the mom says, "Of course he is thinking about you." Of course it's good that she didn't know the truth, but it does hit hard, because the mother will probably never tell her little girl and the little girl will miss an idealized version of "Father" that never existed. Dilemma.
My god. I have never talked THIS long on a THOIA comment before. o_o
This is just THAT good. Thank you for everything you do, Karswell. And very, very, very, VERY Belated (or super early, however you see it ;) ) Christmas to you. ^^
Please feel free to comment on any post, new or old... I have the blog settings set to notify me anytime anyone comments on anything in the archive. Thanks, and merry xmas to you too, haha!
This is a bit strange. Extremely well drawn, but the way it's put together is strange. I was busy reading the father and mother squabbling on the left and the mum and daughter dynamics on the right and paying little to no attention to the artwork first time around, so at the end I had to go back to the beginning and do it all again. Final verdict is that this is probably one of the best posts on your site.
I'M ONLY SLIGHTLY FAMILIAR WITH CORBANS WORK BUT IT LOOKS PRETTY GOOD......I DIDN'T REALIZE THESE CREEPY MAGS WERE SO GORY!
