While we’re at it let’s give credit to four great Modern Age Halloween comic book covers, three from Eclipse (love that Dave Stevens!),and one from Fantaco Publication.
Not sure really. I remember the series starting off very strong with interesting writing and good artists, but then later issues seemed full of amateurish stories and annoying filler. Like most indie comics it probably just died a slow death until nobody noticed it wasn't even around anymore. They always had great covers though... I actually still have a Gore Shriek t-shirt with the image from issue #1 of the guy pulling the flesh off his own face.
Karswell is quite correct in his analysis of Gore Shriek (strong start, but alas running out of steam). Just in case anyone's interest is piqued, there's a site out there, on yond interweb, dedicated to preserving it's memory where you can get your grubby paws on it for a little taster...
all 4 of those are nicely done....and I agree dave stevens is awesome
ReplyDeleteSo what happened to Gore Shriek? I have a few issues still but I remember it just disappeared all of a sudden.

I own these! Totally miss Twisted Tales and Tales of Terror.
ReplyDeleteI miss Richard Corbin too. I know he's still working, but I wasn't all that impressed w/ BIGFOOT (probably cuz Rob Zombie wrote it)
