Agreed M...>rest of the cityscape in deep focus.

Agreed Mykal, the thing about the really good pre-code publishers was that they had artists with cinematic vision, alot of Atlas panels look like slick movie storyboards.

>is it me or has this exact same theme been done before?

It's not just you, this type of story has been done countless times over and over, and not just by Atlas either.

>except there would be a lot of beads of sweat on the protagonist's brow

Haha, indeed... give 'em the sweaty Craig treatment!

>I love the third to last panel of the last page...

Me too Mike, in fact when I first looked at it I thought maybe DiPreta might've stepped in for a few panels.

>I rarely think of horror as mystical.

Well hopefully THOIA can change your mind about that Cindy.

>COOL NEWS ABOUT MYKALS BLOG TOO. I don't know why, but somehow I'm picturing this story being illustrated by Johnny Craig (except there would be a lot of beads of sweat on the protagonist's brow if he illustrated the story).Corpse Paradehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16381398908021102253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-983171239671909762.post-3865344732828984252010-01-06T00:52:57.044-06:002010-01-06T00:52:57.044-06:00What a putz! This guy, if he survived, wouldn't get too far in the upcoming decade of women's liberation. Doomed to failure, I suppose.

And talk about being an egocentric ass who deserves his fate; he would rather her be serious about an impending invasion on the human race rather then her be insane just because he's got a schoolboy crush. No wonder this dude never got laid.

Lastly, is it me or has this exact same theme been done before? Maybe I just read this a long time ago in one of the early '70s Marvel reissues or something.

I love the Atlas classics, Karswell. Yesterday's story was fantastically drawn as well.

Now I'm off to check out Mykal's blogs; thanks for the heads-up.sfdoomedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17325396808542883807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-983171239671909762.post-50587814310264043522010-01-05T23:39:30.415-06:002010-01-05T23:39:30.415-06:00karswell: Loved the panel construction in this one...karswell: Loved the panel construction in this one, as well as the coloring. There were flashes of briliance throughout. Like Page 5 - panel 6; the one with the milk bottle in the immediate foreground, the rest of the cityscape in deep focus.
