Whoa... I just realized that two posts ago THOIA delivered post #2,000! And for those that care, AEET finally hit 1,000 posts about 20 posts ago as well! (Man, I really need to pay more attention to that sort of milestoney thing!) So ok, not only are we celebrating Halloween today, we're also celebrating 2,000(+) posts at THOIA, or over 3,000 posts when combined with my other blog. And now it's totally time to turn these gnarly numbers into a festival, and of course there's no greater host of horrors (besides me!) than the King of Hell himself-- Satan! It is, in fact, a Devil Double Feature, the first story from the July 1953 issue of Strange Mysteries #12, plus a bonus half page quickie from the April 1953 issue of Out of the Shadows #8, with art possibly by Vince Coletta!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
PLUS! Mr. Karswell, Halloween '71
Happy Halloween everyone, stay safe and warm (it's freakin' snowing and freezing rain here in the midwest --arghh!), and have yourselves an enchantingly evil evening of sinful celebration --and most importantly-- CANDY CANDY CANDY!!

Black Fury
Black cats are as important to Halloween as witches and jack-o-lanterns, so let's fire up a hellish tale of ferocious felines, and ancient, hissing evil from the July 1953 issue of Web of Mystery #19. By the way, how many of your own 9 lives do you cool cats have left remaining?

The Little Black Box / Black Crows!
What October would be complete without an Atlas tale-- or two! Yes, THOIA is back in black with a couple of truly dark, mortifyingly mysterious terror tales! And jolting Joe Maneely lights it all up with a super hot little number from the March 1952, debut issue of Mystery Tales #1, --it's guaranteed to give you heart burn! Followed by a scary story from the January 1954 issue of Mystery Tales #17 about an 80's rock band from Georgia that released 8 studio albums and-- just joking-- it's the long awaited return of astounding Al Luster to this blog! And whoa, despite being one of my all-time Atlas favorites, this is the first Luster post we've seen around these parts in nearly 10 years! That alone should be enough to shake your money maker! ;)
After today's post, head over to my other blog for a hilarious "Splater Version" of Siskel and Ebert's At the Movies-- PLUS, a spoof on precode horror and Creepshow!

The Coffin Maker!
IN COLOR! A terrific terror tale full of satanic suspense, also illustrated by Sheldon Moldoff (see our last post), and this time from the October 1951, debut issue of This Magazine is Haunted #1. This would've made a good old 1940's RKO horror mystery movie (starring Joan Bennett and Donald Meek), and I was actually tempted to repost it here in black and white to see if it would still work, but as some of you can see I'm running a bit behind schedule this October. Moldoff also created the wonderfully creepy cover art.

The Weirdest Corpse of All Time!
I've posted a lot of stories here over the years about stupid ass slobs getting their well-earned, just rewards. But occasionally I'll find a tale where I have to wonder, with everything truly awful all around him: "Does this guy really deserve his grisly fate?" Maybe the life he was living was worse and his death actually becomes his well-earned escape, who knows... anyway, we're keeping things weird and corpsey around here, in fact, today's tale is about The Weirdest Corpse of all Time! From the December 1951 issue of This Magazine is Haunted #2, art by Sheldon Moldoff and Ed Moline.

The Corpse in the House
As we creep closer and closer to Halloween 2019, it's time to nail down a few more putrid posts, and this rotten terror tale from the February 1954 issue off This Magazine is Haunted #15, (with art by Bob McCarty), is the perfect fix you upper / downer. I was trying to remember if I've ever posted a carpenter horror story here at THOIA before-- and I don't mean John! *gag!*
