If you keyword search "swamp" in the THOIA Archive you'll find a bunch of stories set in said saturated Soggsville. They're all pretty fun and weird, but possibly none of them are as disturbing as today's offering, the 4th and final story post from the July 1953 issue of Mysteries (Weird and Strange) #2. I'll leave it at that and let ya'll see for yourself, discuss among yourselves in the comments about motherly love and all that inbred hillybilly stuff, if you please. So yep, another full issue in the can-- with lots more horrors coming up in February-- hold onto your suspenders and we'll see you then!

MUSIC: The Death Scene
Into snotty, loud as Hell garage punk? Well, here's a quick heads up about a band from Kansas called The Death Scene-- aside from being just totally cool dudes, (as well as being fans of horror comics), they've recently gone so far as to actually adopt cursed Mr. Karswell as their band mascot! You can hear them tearing asses at their facebook page HERE, and find out about upcoming shows in or around your area! RIP The Terminals.

The Screaming Room
Another cheap and abhorrent terror tale from the July 1953 issue of Mysteries (Weird and Strange) #2... if someone can explain why it's called "The Screaming Room" I'd love to hear it. One story to go and we'll have another COMPLETE issue in the bag! *screams (oh!)

Revenge in Small Form
Time again for some crummily printed, bat shit crazy, Iger Shop atrocities... yes, it's a sorry set of mind numbing gaggers from the July 1953 issue of Mysteries (Weird and Strange) #2 -- this one full of uranium creatures, insane mothers, demons, and voodoo. I'll probably post the entire issue here because it's seriously one of the more deranged collections from Superior --you can take that either in a good or bad way. One story "Monsters Three" can already be found in the THOIA Archive HERE, posted way back in 2008.

It Came from the Bottom of the World! / Too Much Steam!
Two weird quickies from the February 1954 issue of Tales of Horror #9, both illustrated by Jack Sparling. I just realized that with this pair-- as well as our last Son of Satan post-- this makes another complete issue posted here at THOIA (see my archive for the other two perplexing Purple Claw tales, both posted way back in 2008 HERE and HERE!)

The Son of Satan
Nope, it's not Daimon Hellstrom-- it's the other SOS as featured in a truly wild and unusual tale from the February 1954 issue of Tales of Horror #9, with wonderfully atmospheric art by George Olesen.
More Satan in our next post too-- HAIL!

Man Who Murdered Himself / Stamps of Doom!
If you enjoyed the awesome Frank Robbins tale in our last post, here are a few other gems from the winter '74-75 issue of House of Mystery #228 as well. Our first story is from legendary Berni Wrightson, and it's a fun little quickie that feels more like a pre code Atlas terror tale than the usual stuff from DC of this era. Followed by a rousingly exciting Ruben Moreira doomer with a nice body count and some interesting death scenarios. When you're done here head on over to my other blog by clicking HERE for some additional filler fun from this issue including Sergio Aragones gags, Halloween Monster Cards, and more!
