Man at the Grave / Fangs of the Vampire
The other day we saw the pursuit of a vampire, today we'll feel the requested fangs of one-- but first let's see what's up with that creepy old gent over at the graveyard-- two tales from the March 1954 issue of Astonishing #31, featuring atmospheric art from Vic Carrabotta, followed by Joe Sinnott, and the typically terrifying cover genius of Joe Maneely.

Mummy's Hand / Curse of Frankenstein
In our last post we saw some Warren vampire action, so sticking with the black and white super 60's monster mag theme, I summon unto thee a deadly double header featuring quickie fun adaptations of Universal and Hammer mummy and Frankenstein film classics-- this time from Warren's great Monster World series, (issues #2 and #3) --story and art on both by terror team titans Russ Jones and Joe Orlando. FYI: Fans of of these magazines are encouraged to join the Warren Publishing Memory Lane group on Facebook, always something cool 'n creepy added there every day!

Pursuit of the Vampire!
Here's a highly atmospheric Warren vampire tale originally brought to life by Archie Goodwin and Angelo Torres in the Creepy #1 debut from 1964. Reprinted nearly a half dozen times over the years, again in Creepy, as well as Eerie, and finally baring its fangs in the September 1979 issue of Dracula '79, aka Warren Presents #5, and featuring a terrific Christopher Lee cover painting by Basil Gogos. (Note modifications to the title page --see the end of the post for the original Creepy #1 page scan.)

The Statue of Evil
Scanned this one way back in early June and meant to post it, but only just now found it buried in some unrelated hard drive file that I accidentally saved it to-- arghh! Anyway, this is an eerie twist on the Dorian Gray tale (hope that doesn't give away too much), from the February 1952 issue of Web of Mystery #7, art by Sekowsky and possibly Alascia.
