Oil!

Ripped from today's headlines with a relevant bit of Harvey horror for you, and as the cover of the June 1953 issue of Black Cat Mystery #44 boldly states, "Steady Yourself For the Gushing Impact of--- OIL!" Seriously, you'd have to be living on an oil covered island to not know about the real life monster slowly spreading like some black plague across our Gulf of Mexico waters and coasts as we post this...

Wow! This reads like an Atlas story.
This is certainly poetic justice.

June 1st was the beginning of hurricane season, and we on the Gulf Coast are just waiting for all that oil to get stirred up and dumped on us in the form of rain...

It's short and sweet like an Atlas story for sure-- poetic justicely speaking, of course!

>waiting for all that oil to get stirred up and dumped on us in the form of rain...

I'm sorry to hear it Prof, this whole thing is really becoming one big freakin' mess after another.

God Damn but I love the Harvey covers from this era! They rival my beloved Gold Key painted covers for sheer candy-shiny beauty! Great post!

Oil is a wonderful thing because it powers man's greatest achievement in personal freedom and liberty: THE SPORTS CAR. The Common Man's car should be powered by electricity or hydrogen.

It's goddamn stupid to dig so deep down into the sea where you have no real control, when you have unlimited supplies of oil in oil sands and shale where you have complete control and, with proper regulation and laws, can force environmental responsibility compliance from inhuman oil companies. I know exactly what I'm talking about -- I LIVED IN FORT MCMURRAY, OIL CAPITAL OF THE WORLD FOR 5 YEARS! Environmental alarmists are flat out lying when they put that place down.

The United States has 200 years of oil available in their oil sands/shale like we have in Canada. Difference is, we use ours, and force our sea-based oil production in Newfoundland to standards way, way, way beyond the joke standards of you guys down there. What happened down your way cannot happen here because of them.

Anyways, good story. Thanks for posting.

Yeah, standards and regulations always keep accidents from happening. You guys have nothing to worry about.

Put me down as an environmental alarmist and I also happened to grow up in Alberta. Your post fails to mention the tailing ponds and the pollutants that are fouling the watershed up there. Also, your comments are insensitive to those who will suffer the consequences of the mess in the Gulf. The sooner we move to alternative sources of energy en masse, the better.
Anyways, sorry for the rant and thanks for another great comic!
