The cop-eating scene was always one of my favorites... then again, in the Japanese monster movies, the most horrible part was when someone got eaten, it always gave me the willies! Even when Gaos did it in one of the Gamera films.
I think it stems from seeing the Muppets eat each other on the Ed Sullican show, after seeing that at 6 and being disturbed by it, such scenes in monster movies later always got to me!
