Italian Grindhouse

If you live in or around Los Angeles and love violent Italian films then this is your month to celebrate! Starting this Friday, July 11th and running through the 24th, the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood is premiering an exclusive celluloid assault of classic grindhouse hits and rarities from the likes of Dario Argento, Tinto Brass, Umberto Lenzi, Sergio Corbucci, and more… this fest covers the full spectrum of genre thrillers with gothic horror, giallo, crime, and spaghetti westerns.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

And speaking of Dario Argento (for those of you in the St Louis MO vicinity), the finale entry in his Three Mothers trilogy, Mother of Tears starring Asia Argento opens at the Tivoli Theatre in the U City Loop this Friday and runs for one week only. Haven’t read many good reviews of it yet unfortunately, but his films are of course always worth a look.

Wow. I work at an independent theatre, but in New York, and we never have a line up like this. Wish I was in California!

Oh maaaaan...! LA outclassing NYC yet again. I am mightily miffed, Mr. K. I'm doing a not-insignificant amount of fist shaking at the prospect of NOT being there for the "Dorian Gray" screening.

They had a ton of great screenings when I lived out there but it seems like the second I moved they really beefed up the selections. And though I don't see any mention of it for this fest, they usually have great Q&As afterwards with a director or cast member too, this was how I met Russ Meyer, Tura Satana, Barbara Steele, Bruce Campbell etc... afterall.
